A rotating beer out of Bottle Logic, this is a pale ale brewed with coconut and coffee. Served on-tap at the brewery, on to the beer:
Color looks dirty orange, and at points I would have been tempted to say light brown. A half-inch of semi-creamy head rests on top with adequate retention. Off the bat, the coffee and coconut hit the nose with an electric punch. Aromatic, to say the least.
Usually when coconut or coffee is used, the base is a dark beer. With a pale ale as the base, my brain was initially thrown off by the flavor. Coffee...from a lighter colored beer? Coconut, from a lighter colored beer? it is here. The overall flavor starts lighter than expected, and at this point I was thinking coconut milk. The pale ale base is sturdy, bringing kisses of grass to an otherwise 1-2 show of coconut and coffee. The beer is medium bodied and smooth, and does have a refreshing element.
I've never been to Tahiti. Only in my mind while drinking this can I imagine its scenery in detail; Hinano no longer cuts it ;-)
