Sampled from a 12oz bottle.
Pours a light, pale, golden yellow with a decent white head. The head retention was fairly good and the lacing was great.
Aromas of subtle caramel, light biscuity dough, sweet malt, and grains. Some hints of spice and hops, but not what you would expect from an Extra Pale Ale
Taste is very subtle and medium bodied. Very smooth, crisp, and clean. This is not a hop head's Pale. I absolutely loved it. This reminded me of an English Pale. Very mild, and a wonderfully complex balance of flavors. Sweet malt, caramel, hops, and spice. All very subtle, non dominating the others. A wonderful session beer, and a true delight.
A true departure from the current trend of American Pales being highly hopped. This is a great mild, easy drinking Pale ale. This is also a wonderful convert beer. Try it out on your macro drinking friends.

DATE TASTED: May 4, 2014... GLASSWARE: Howard's Pub pint... OCCASION: toilet--replaced; lawn--cut; bathroom--painted = beer time!... APPEARANCE: creamy white head that attractively flairs; dark golden straw-colored, evenly effervescent body; drains evenly... AROMA: vibrant citric (mostly orange with some melon and pear as well) and floral notes with some light caramel malts--accessible and intriguing... PALATE: soft, lagerish body,, equally creamy and thinly taut--sessionable and perfectly at home...TASTE: Flying Fish continues to leave me a happy consumer, as this pale ale a strong profile fits within the genre well and yet is memorable enough to e sought again--maybe not at the bottle shop, but in a restaurant or bar...
