thanks to mnbearsfan for tossing this in on a BIF box. first brew of the hurricane.
a - opened and filled my capt lawrence taster tulip. really attractive transparent amber with a frothy ipa like head. the head was really thick and chunky and milkshake like. sticky lacing. one of the nicer ambers i've seen.
s - hoppy and malty...kind of american barleywine smelling. mellon and grapefuit-like. gets my mouth watering. a touch of brown sugar malts. toffee.
t - very bittery amber. cross between a IIPA and an amber ale. malt heavy but strong hop bittering. lots of malts and lots of hops. more barleywine to me than amber.
m - feels like an imperial amber. boozy with a bitter finish, but not drying. biscuity.
o - overall kind of barleywine like. that amber all properties are there, but the imperial style of this brew and heat make it much more barleywine like, which isn't a bad thing to me. i quite enjoyed this beer.
