This beer is a beautiful amber color. The white head has staying power. It is clear and the smell is a malty, spicy hopped scent. A little soapy smell, and a fruit scent...berry an peach? Not a powerful aroma, but present nonetheless. The taste is drier than expected. Spice and bitterness in the mid taste. Mild maltiness throughout. Full and satisfying mouthfeel. This is a respectable beer.

Drank on-tap at Goodnight Irene’s Brewpub, Wildwood, NJ
Served in a pint glass

Slightly hazed, crimson-amber appearance. The liquid was topped by a tight, one inch tall head of light tan foam. Solid retention. Odd shaped patches of lacing coated the top half of the glass.

The nose was hoppy and quite interesting. Citrusy, c-style hops dominated. Strong notes of candied orange peel. Somewhat spicy. The hops were accompanied by a sweet, caramel malt backbone. Hints of brown sugar came through as well.

The flavor profile was punchy and very similar to the aroma. Malty up front. Lots of sweet caramel and biscuity malts. Punchy, citrusy hops soon took over. Candied orange peel was most apparent. Ruby red grapefruit was noticeable as well. The finish was piney and just a touch bitter. At 7% ABV, the alcohol was nicely buried beneath all the intense flavors.

Super slick and creamy on the palate. The liquid was smooth, frothy and supple and contained a fine, tongue blanketing effervescence.

Flying Fish's Red Fish is an amazingly flavorful yet extremely well balanced hoppy red ale. This was quite the welcomed surprise.

Pretty nice amber. Hop character is there, but not obnoxiously so. Seems appropriately done. It slightly overshadows the amber characteristics that do show through. Feel has a nipping carbonation. This is a good amber, hopped up a bit. I like it. Another new hit from Flying Fish.

Appearance: deep red, fairly hazy. two fingers of a foamy head the slowly fade. leaves a touch of side lacing behind

Smell: some sweet malts. and some strong cirtrusy hops

Taste: citrus hops, some toasted malts and sweet malts. pretty complexed and well balanced. drinks almost like a baby version of a barley wine.

Mouthfeel: fairly light and non-alcoholic for 7%. but low bitterness

Overall: looks like i picked a good one from new jersey. this was a tasty and drinkable red. gets better as you solve some of the complexity.
