Forever Unloved Sandy was brewed as a fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts. So far, we’ve donated $75,000 to a variety of local organizations throughout the state to help with the recovery. Think of Sandy as wheat pale ale. It’s hopped with experimental hop ADHA 483, donated by the American Dwarf Hop Association, which has never been used in a beer before this one. Expect a beautiful nose of mangoes, peaches and guavas that will accentuate the beer’s soft mouthfeel and contribute to a truly one-of-a-kind ale.

On-tap, served in a pint

A yellow body with some orange overtones. A huge two+ finger cap billows up to fill the glass and falls slowly. Raindrop pattern as it falls. The nose is of sweet toasted malt, grass, wheat, caramel, mango, grapefruit, and peach. Very light nose, balanced between malt and hops. On the palate, this guy rolls in smooth. Soft tropical fruit up front before a rush of caramel, wheat, and toasted biscuit through the middle. The finish is pretty much all hops. Grapefruit, peach, mango, and orange all collide in a juicy sweetness before mild bitterness sweeps in for the kill. This is a damn fine Pale Wheat. Nice hop punch without being overbearing. Delicate and flavorful in all the right places.

Appearance: Pours a hazy honey color capped by a two-fingered head; decent lacing action

Smell: Bready, with guava and a hint of pith

Taste: Bready on the base, with some guava and lemon elements building; a bit more pithy through the middle, but the finish is rather mild

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: One of those beers that lingered so long in my cellar I forgot it was there - likely an extra from a trade long ago; clearly past its prime but I tried to make up for that in the review

Nothing there. Not impressed. Perhaps a good summertime beer, but not my thing.

11/3..pours hazy yellowed gold with white foam ringing. Wheaty tropical fruit nose. A little sweet. Taste is a light wheat ale, fruity, followed by a latent hop bitter that never quite comes out. Good beer, good cause.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some notes of wheat. Taste is tart, lemons, wheat, light hops. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

Like this beer a lot. Nice hoppy spiced thing going on. Great fruit tones. Extremely easy to drink. Too bad I only got one.
