l. Dark brown with a two finger foamy head when pouring a 22 oz bomber into a pint glass. Once settled, it has a bit of amber color as well. The head remains at about 1 finger throughout the beer.

s. Faint nutty sent. Not overpowering in the least. Some grapefruit notes as well.

t. I know this is more mouthfeel, but there is a creamy aspect to this beer that is something special, and it does loose that creaminess as the beer settles. I suggest pouring this beer 6 - 8 oz at a time to get a refreshed head and added creaminess throughout. The head will continue to grow. There is a bitter aspect to the beer that comes through a bit if you allow it to settle. If you like that, forego the suggestion above. Nutty, malty, well balanced, some hoppy pine on the finish. This is a very well crafted beer. Kudos to the craft beer cellar in Nashua NH for recommending this beer for me.

Mouthfeel is outstanding, as is the overall aspect of this beer. I have not enjoyed a brown like this since visiting breweries in Toronto in 1990.

Once upon a time back in March, I stopped by Kelsen Brewery and was handed a sample of this delicious brew...I’ve never been a big brown ale fan but like a hoppy beer, but not over the top...well they changed my mind forever! It all starts with the aroma once you pop the cap...roasted nut/caramel like, with hints of chocolate and coffee...wonderful foamy head that sticks around...it pours a deep rich dark brown...the taste is where it’s all at...roasted malt sweetness upfront, (refer to aroma for taste), but not too sweet...followed by a very fine, almost resin type hop takeover, with floral hints, that carries all the way to the finish...very smooth finish...outstanding quality and attention to detail went into this beer with lots of love...I’ve been drinking micro/craft beers since 2002 and this is one, if not the best beer I have ever put my lips too...and just like Lay’s chips, you can’t drink just one! So what are you waiting for? Seek out this beer if you want your taste buds to explode, you will not be disappointed...and that’s a promise from this guy!

Stellar American Brown Ale. USOBC gold Winner and deservedly so. Doesn't thin out like a lot of browns and has great roasty, chocolate, and hop flavors. Complex!

Nanobrewery from Derry, NH. Having only been in existence for three months, this place is off to a stellar start! Erik and Paul are the owners, very personable and eager to talk about beer. Now on to this brew!

Appearance- Dark brown towards the bottom but lighter up top with a nice foamy head.

Smell- Dark grains, chocolate, coffee, toffee, hops, faint spice (clove, cinnamon). Perfectly in balance.

Taste- Just short of amazing, a little too much hop for the style though. Earthy notes and hops mingle with coffee, dark chocolate, a bit of hazelnut (very faint), and toffee. Feels nice and velvety on the tongue, very smooth.

Overall- A great addition to the local canon of craft beers. It is very unique, being one of the few breweries in the area to do a Brown Ale. Highly recommended!
