Tan, medium head. Deep chestnut, with some dark orange highlights. Medium toasted wood, and a hint of medium roasted grain, with a caramel note, in the aroma. Pretty good, medium roast grain and a bit of woodiness, along with a touch of medium caramelized malt, to the taste.

A generic version of Newcastle Brown Ale......which isn't a bad thing. Usually on happy hour special pricing at my favorite bar so if I want something cheap and good, it fits the bill.

It’s a good brown ale. A solid representation of the style.

this beer is grossly underrated here, one of the best i have had from these guys really, and i see why it took home a bronze medal at gabf this fall, it really is one of the better american made examples of this style i have had. these guys make good beer, but it definitely has gotten better lately. this is a fine brown ale, beautifully refined, perfectly clear, deep chestnut colored in the light, a medium brown shade otherwise, and with a nice head from the tap. it smells like clean dry cocoa and rich almond nuttiness, not overly layered or intense, but it doesnt need to be, i like darker beers that are easier drinking, and this is certainly that. a nice english character to the grain as well as the yeast, but a little hoppier than most of the english ones too, somewhat of a hybrid of brown ale styles then, but a flavorful and crushable beer. subtle smoke and roasted grain bitterness to balance the middle maple toffee sweetness, and a very dry finish too. smooth in feel, lighter medium body, just substantial enough for the flavors to be held up, no more. relaxed carbonation, some minerals, and a freshness that i never think about mattering in a brown ale but stands out to me here. great beer, criminally underrated here!

Arrived at my table a clear light brown color with a small, bubbly head of foam. It smelled of toffee, light chocolate notes and some piney hops. It was of good balance of bitter and sweet. Chocolate, caramel and pine.

I liked the brown and in fact ordered it as my pint after my sampler. The beer poured a deep red with thin white head that did not leave much lacing. The scent had bread malt goodness. The taste had some caramel sweetness with biscuit. The mouthfeel was medium body with smooth carbonation. Overall not too shabby!
