DATE: March 6, 2021... OCCASION: having our collective minds blown by Wanda Vision... GLASSWARE: Citrabellum pokal... pours a dense, autumn-like burnt sienna whose near opaqueness supports a thick, two-fingered snow-like froth... rather handsome from a distance... its had is resilient as it draws clouds around the glass's rim... nice pine, dank resin, and bright orange, lime and grapefruit...and a hint of spice, which makes this just different enough to stand out or on its own... first sip is strong, juicy, and chewy at the teeth... in fact, it seethes with hoppiness, sitting with a medium-bodied weight on the tongue and frothy, almost lactic... the aftertaste doesn't linger quite so long, and it becomes a bit thin at the exit... the dankness gives no "offense," if a bad pun can be made, and its grapefruit, pine and flowery elements make this a sippable beer that nonetheless has brings a strong profile... the orange comes out last and best, robust with dankness... the malts, on the other hand, push for attention and balance the experience.... glad I sought this out, and doubly glad AE began canning....

On draught at Morris Tap and Grill. It pours a pretty, hazy orange-bronze color with a thin, creamy egg-white head with excellent retention and a nice sheen of lacing. The smell is pretty subdued; mostly sweet malt and light floral hops. There isn't any discernible fruit aroma. This is a malt-forward IPA with initial sweetness that is quickly overcome by resinious pine and the bitter blend of "7 West Coast hops." There are only faint citrus notes. It's medium-bodied with moderate carbonation, and the 7.5% ABV provides a nice heft. Overall, Hop the Fence is a competent, malt-forward American IPA. It has no features that stand out but it nicely accompanies a pub meal.

Pretty good ipa. Maybe a tad to sweet for me, but nice melon flavors and some citrus, with some nice bitterness.

This one is a very hazy, cloudy ale - deep gold in color - with a soapy, long-lasting head. Flowery, very hop-centric smell. There is some fruit underneath...a little peach and apricot, along with an earthy hop scent. Pale malt scents in the background. The taste has a pleasant bitterness, lots of peppery, spicy hop flavor. Semi-dry...but enough sweetness to help with drinkability. Firm mouthfeel and a sprtizy carbonation. Nice, lingering bitter finish. Solid.
