Went to this small brewpub on a damp and misty Scottish afternoon with my buddy from University. After a half hour ride on the bus, we were dropped off at a small roundabout and walked 3-minutes down the hill to the Houston Brewing Company.
The Master Brewer was more than happy to take time out of his schedule to give us a very short tour of his facilities (roughly only 2 rooms) and discuss his brewing process with us. Afterward, he welcomed us to go into the pub for a sampling of six of their beers currently on cask: Barochan, Killelan, St. Peter's Well, the Warlock Stout, Carl's Beer (a seeming version of Carlsberg), and Teuchter. All were so good we couldn't help but stay to have a pint of one of them.
Though we were getting hungry by now and the wonderful smells of the place were doing nothing to ease our hunger, we decided it was time to leave, but not after purchasing some merchandise.
The Waitstaff were friendly and helpful, not minding the two americans sitting there discussing their beers, and even sent us home with some complimentary pint glasses (after they failed to find their selling price).
Overall, the trip was a pleasant experience and a must for anyone touring Scottish breweries.

A nice little brewpub southwest of Glasgow. Probably best to drive for Houston sees limited public transport. The X6 and X7 buses from Glasgow Buchannan Street Bus Station call at Houston as does an hourly bus from the Johnstone train station (a cab from the station is faster and is about £4.50).
Housed in a 17th century coaching the pub is decorated in the classic British style and is adorned with hunting memorabilia. The bar serves a range of the Houston Brewing Company beers, when I was there, St. Peters Well, Barochan, Killellan, and Warlock Stout. (I've only seen Killellan on cask anywhere else). I'd highly recommend Peters Well and the stout.
Merchandise (t-shirts, pint glasses, etc.) as well as bottled beer are also available from the bar and the staff were more than happy to wrap my pint glass up for me. The service was quite friendly and they glady pulled me a sample of everything they had available. There is a restaurant which serves lunch and dinner upstairs but I didn't try it.
All in all a nice little brewpub and well worth the effort to get to Houston if you ever need to get out of Glasgow for a bit.
