The beer was served in a Imperial Pint glass.

A- The body of the beer is a deep orange nearing scarlet coloration. The head was thick and creamy intially but quickly fell down.

S- The aroma is mildly smokey with sweet caramel malt.

T- The flavor of the beer has an almost smokey caramel maltyness. A suggestion of peat and herbal tones. The beer is ok but is bland.

M- The body of the beer is almost medium lightly carbonated.

O- Not a bad beer by any strech but its a little bland for my taste.

A-pours a clear amber with a foamy off-white head and great lacing.

S-sweet caramel malt. Not much else.

T-malty sweet a little bland even for the style. Nothing special.

M-medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

O-kind of a disappointment given how much I usually enjoy Columbus beers.

Picked up in Mansfield, Ohio while back there to visit friends and family October 2011.

Appearance: dark, ruby-red color; thick, off-white head

Smell: Very malty, bread-like...

Taste: Rich, biscuity malt flavor up front. Bitterness mildly noted towards the end.

Mouthfeel: Solid, smooth and chewy - great compliment to the malt flavors.

Overall: A very nice, big malt beer.

Received bottle as a trade extra from cosmonick. (Cheers!)

Aroma: Smooth, aged scotch. Sweet, bready caramel malt. Light floral hops.

Appearance: Amber body with decent clarity. One finger of sticky light tan head has good retention, and leaves rings of foam on the inside of the glass.

Flavor: Nice toffee sweetness. Malt also comes through with a delicious note of crusty french bread. Bittering hops provide great balance leading up to a crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-low carbonation and medium-full mouthfeel lend to a decent "chewiness" that's in-line w/ the style.

Overall: A delicious, drinkable Scottish ale with no real flaws. I love this style, and was really impressed with Columbus Brewing Co's version of it. Try it if you can find it in your neck of the woods!

Not a bad Scottish Ale, but not nearly the best Columbus beer. Their IPA and APA are fantastic. Pours a slightly hazy reddish copper color into a pint glass. Medium size antique white head. Average retention and minimal lacing.

Smell is mild but pleasant, sweet malts with a little floral aspect.

Taste is pretty solid. Sweet malts, some caramel and a mild hoppiness in the finish.

Mouthfeel is crisp. Rich enough, no hint of alcohol. Don't know what the abv is but it is probably fairly low

Nice refreshing beer, Good with food, probably light enough for a session.

The color is gorgeous! Deep ruby with a rocky off white head. The smell, though, is full of something I don’t want in a Scottish Ale, hops.

I like the round flavor from the caramel malt, there’s a bit of black pepper and spice, bread dough, and a noticeable hop kick at the end leading to a long, dry, bitter, slightly woody finish.

Maybe a bit too hoppy for a Scottish Ale

On tap at brewery in Columbus.

This beer with dark, reddish amber with a head that has, at best, moderate retention.

The beer lacks the smokiness of some Scottish ales (a plus in my book). The aroma is a light malt with hints of whisky (but not due to alcohol effects). The taste is rather mild for style, a seems
a bit more refreshing than usual.

Good, but hard to recommend if you are able to pick from the other CBC brews.

A - Pours a deep mahogany/ruby red with a frothy two finger head that dissipates quickly but leaves a decent amount of lacing.

S - Some biscuity malt, mixed with some sweet nuts, some molasses and a touch of caramel.

T - Very sweet taste, a full mouth of caramel and maple syrup, with a finish reminiscent of nuts, and then a tinge of bitterness.

M - Very full mouthfeel, but goes down smooth. Leaves the mouth ever so sticky.

Overall - A good Scottish ale, it didn't bring any outstanding characteristics, but it was good and refreshing.
