I forgot who gave this to me. I'm usually good with keeping track of who gave what, but I guess I missed this one, and I'm really sorry. If you gave me this please let me know asap so I can give you credit.

Big creamy 1.5 finger head fades semi slowly with nice lacing, hazy grapefruit peach colored.

Nose touch of bready semi sweet malt, then nice citrus hops, touch of grapefruit and tropical fruit, floral, a light Amarillo like fruitiness.

Taste has fresh hops, light tropical fruit, little juicy citrus, Amarillo fruity flavors, tangerine, nectarine, citrusy peach, etc, and light spicy piney hops. It has a decent bitter bite with light sweet malty base, touch grainy, nice balance and feels like it should have some booze but doesn't. Finish adds a long lingering bitterness, tropical fruit hops, quite dry, more of that tangerine and grapefruit like tropical fruit hops.

Mouth is med to fuller bodied, good carb.

Overall a nice ipa, fairly impressed. Good hop character, nice light malt balance, good bitterness, drinkable, a very well done IPA.

Thanks to Tony for throwing this in as an extra.

Don't have any Columbus glassware, so I used a handy Deschutes teku. Cloudy orange-amber color, with a half inch of foamy white head that sank to a wispy layer, leaving some strands of lace on the glass. Aroma was sweet and fruity, orange marmalade, mango, caramel, light citrusy hops. A little more malty than I'd have expected. The taste reflected the nose, but the hops came out a bit more meaningfully, piney, pithy, with a leafy bitterness, caramel and worty malt sweetness, with a dry breadiness. There's definitely some nice complexity going on here, even if it's not as fresh and hoppy as I prefer my IPAs. Medium body, nicely drinkable. I'd definitely go back for more of this one.

Bottle purchased and drank at Kafe Kerouac in Columbus, OH.

Pours a slightly hazy orange, with a one inch head and sticky looking lacing.

Smells like a pine tree covered in honey, with some orange and pineapple as well.

The taste is pretty similar, but not quite as good. Very earthy, and piney, with a strong malt presence underpinning everything, very honey-like and sweet. Very strong, almost "dirty" earthy flavors here, as well as some deep citrus. With a bit of cleaning up, this would be an elite IPA.

Medium bodied, sticky, and resinous mouthfeel. Well carbonated, very drinkable.

First beer from Columbus Brewing, it's a winner, but not the best IPA I've ever had.

Updating my review after several cases of this; fresh bottle poured into snifter.

A: Pours a hazy, vibrant golden orange color with a finger of thick, foamy, white head. Head subsides at a moderate pace leaving decent lacing behind.

S: Tons of tropical citrus hop flavors in the nose– pineapple, mango, grapefruit, and tangerine. Bits of pine hops and lightly toasted/biscuity malts.

T: Grapefruit and pine are the dominant hop flavors here, and both show up early alongside a bigger dose of sweet, toasty malts than was present in the nose. Not as diverse as the smell, but very well balanced. Biscuity malt flavors and a lingering piney bitterness mesh well on the finish.

M: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation; very smooth and crisp. Slightly creamy too, and with a dry finish. Well done– makes drinking this a breeze.

O: This is my go-to beer when I'm in Ohio. It's an incredible beer, it never gets old, I generally prefer drinking IPAs when not trying new beers, and the price point of $9 for a six-pack gives it one of the best taste to dollar ratios I can think of. Other, bigger IPAs will wow me more once in a while, but the craftsmanship and enjoyment of Columbus IPA are consistently incredible.

From bottle to Mad Fox snifter...

A. This beer is a vibrant, orange gold. It has a half finger of off-white head and soapy suds on the sides of the glass. It glows in the glass, like the last traces of sunset on a cool, spring day.

S. A ripe, tropical, and biscuity bouquet greets my nose. Tropical and juicy notes of pineapple, mango, and orange zest are subdued by assertive earth and pine. A malt sweetness that suggest honeysuckle rounds off the back-end of the nose.

T. Inviting and complex, with big fruity notes of strawberry and tangerine tempered by juicy sweet pineapple and honey drizzled bread crust. The finish suggests more of the earth and minerality from which the hops and malts in this beer came. Slightly drying and bitter, it's a perfect counterbalance to all that is tropical and sweet up front.

M. Crisp and comfortable, like a favorite shirt. Balance is top-notch with an array of flavors that have been carefully constructed into a resounding whole. My favorite IPAs are sweet, tropical, with an under riding bitterness that keeps things grounded. This accomplishes all of that with aplomb.

O. An excellent IPA. It's familiar, balanced, and eminently enjoyable. A more classic IPA than the modern hop bombs that are en vogue, Columbus IPA is an example of true craft and should be savored.

Nice amber and clear body, head is small, half a finger fo stark white. Retention average and a singular ring of lacing leaving some small dollops of suds on the way down.

Buttery croissant, cookie dough, all very full and balancing before the hops flood in resinous and earthy. Hop aroma fills in the void of citrus with spicy pine, melon, stone fruit and dank herbaceous green hops. Balanced with the malt profile and some power this is a damn fine sniffer.

Full honey and pastry malt, almost a raw bakery dough flavor with matching glazed sweetness. Ample balance for a hop profile that swings in again, devoid of citrus providing variants of tropical fruit, underlying melon, smooth pine and spicy herbaceous greens. Low initital bitterness builds with a piney kick.

Moderate body and carbonation. Well integrated overall, alcohol is not a factor.. Bitterness gives a lower than normal impression despite drying pretty well.

Impressive IPA, almost completely lacking in typical citrus hops, this beer makes up for it with pine and secondary fruit. Balance is ideal and the croissant-like malt is very decadent.
