I was excited to try this spring/summer offering from Columbus Brewing Company. After all, CBC puts out some amazing brews.

Maybe it's just the style, but this this one doesn't stick out to me. The first sip reminded me of Yuengling lager, which isn't necessarily bad, but not something I would regularly buy... I'm not going to turn it down during the warm summer months. Glad I only bought one bottle though.

12oz Bottle, 2013 Release
This beer pours with about a finger of foamy white head. Despite the unfiltered nature of the brew, there is little cloudiness (I will swirl the next one, I know I can get those tasty yeasts to comply!). In the aroma you get lots of grain and bread; almost cracker-like. The flavor comes off as largely the same as the aroma, very bready, almost like taking a fist full of pale (pilsner?) malt in your mouth (this Keller bier is definitely infinitely tastier I am certain). Although the complexity is nothing like something with various adjuncts and a major ABV, this beer is very refreshing and really fits the bill when you want to have a few beers without feeling too bloated or drunk.

A: very cloudy, a sexy unfiltered-ness to it. With somewhat thick white foam ontop of a nice grainy tint.

S: sweet grains and corn husk, slightly bready. Hops and citrus hints come forward as it warms.

T:sweetness hits at first, leading into grain flavors, light corn and husk, followed up by a nice sharp bitterness which is a bit grassy and hangs on in the aftertaste.

M: thick and lush.fills the mouth without being heavy.

O: damn tasty. Only picked up a single and really wish i had more. Light in alcohol and refreshing, this is a great summer beer, or for anytime you want a nice flavorful beer that isnt going to wreck your taste buds or sobriety. This is only my second keller/zwickel, and i will definitely seek out more. I think this edges out fat head's example by being slightly more complex. Will buy again for sure and hope i can score some more before it's gone for the year.

Summer Teeth
Columbus Brewing Company
Style: Keller Bier / Zwickel Bier
ABV: 5.00 %

LOOK: Pours a clear golden color with a soapy froth reminiscent of frog eggs on a pond. Leaves an excellent display of lace. Appears attractive.

SMELL: Clean bready malts, a touch of wheat, grassy hop, a bit grainy, faint lemon.

TASTE: Fresh tasting, with more pale malt flavor lending notes of rye bread and biscuit, but not without a good dosage of noble, grassy hops that do impart a saaz-like spice note. Cracker like yeast/malt notes. Hop flavor chimes in faint citrus and finishes with a small bitterness.

MOUTHFEEL: Light bodied, crisp, Uber-Refreshing. Really does hit the spot.

OVERALL: A summer beer with plenty of flavor and character. Tasty, well made, actually almost like a high quality import lager. A beer like this is always welcome in the beer fridge.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pilsener glass. Pours a straw yellow color, with a slight haze, capped by a fluffy white 1/2" lid.

Has a nice grassy aroma, with hints of lemon, mild malt, and cracker.

Smooth tasting, with a malty start. Grass, clover, lemon zest, and dandelion combine for a refreshing taste. Finishes with a mild bit of hop.

Light to medium bodied, this is a refreshing, but not a crisp, beer, that lightly dries the tongue at the finish. The feel is too soft for me to call this a crisp brew.

A nice summer lager, I could see hitting this a few times on a hot summer day. This beer is not hurt at all by serving it ice cold, still retaining all the taste and feel it has as it warms. Another quality beer from Columbus Brewing Company!

Served from the bottle into a pilsner glass

A- Poured a semi-hazy bright golden color with a three finger fluffy head that left lots of chunky lace. Lots of tiny streaming carbonation bubbles

S- Very bready, some lager fruitiness, lemon,

T- Really nice pilsner malt character, very bready doughy and lots of graininess. Some light lemon notes and lager fruitiness. There is a nice fruity sharpness that cuts through the bready/grainy backbone and soft mouthfeel. There is a really nice brightness and snap in the flavor of this beer.

M- Very soft mouthfeel, creamy, prickly carbonation, mostly dry finish, very refreshing

O- This is a wonderful session lager for the summer. So drinkable, amazing mouthfeel, and some really nice flavor.

Pours a semi clouded yellow golden color with massive white head flowing thick, big chunky head at that with velvet smooth texture. Lacing is scattered nice and random around my big oversized glass. Aroma has lemon essence with biscuit dough rising in the morning kitchen, flavorwise it's a beautiful thing fresh with biscuit dough bread lightly toasted malt sweetness. Ample German hops to balance out the sweetness leaving a semi dry finish, perfect summer beer these guys from Columbus brewing are dead on. Mouthfeel is light ample lively carbonation jumps off the palate and into my senses, amazing flowing beer with enough girth from yeast sediment to truly fulfill your thirst and hunger. Overall intense simple complexity to breed drinkability if that makes sense.

Summer Teeth pours a light gold color. It’s a little hazy, but not as much as expected. Backlighting gives it a bit of a bright yellow look. A white head tops it and stands a little less than a finger tall. It’s rather quick to recede. Lacing was so light that’s it’s not really worth mentioning. Not bad, but not great.

The nose is okay. It’s above average. It is a little weak in the aromatics department. It’s yeasty up front. Definitely grainy and earthy. That resonates throughout. It features a fruity scent that’s pretty good. Smells mostly like lemon. It’s a tad sweet and perhaps a little sugary. Hops are more notable than I imagined. Certainly smells like grassy, noble hops to me. Alcohol is buried. I’m not getting any.

The flavor is good. It’s a bit better than the nose. Although it’s not complex or complicated, it is quite good. It kicks off with a very earthy, grainy flavor. It’s very yeasty and a bit fruity. Lemon is definitely in the mix. Hops are really the x-factor. They’re much stronger than you’d anticipate. They’re grassy, and there’s little doubt they’re some variation of noble hops. I have no idea what the bill is though. It has a slight bitter kick to it. Alcohol is buried. Finishes grassy, yeasty, and dry.

Summer Teeth has a lighter body. Carbonation is rather light. It’s a little too light to feel smooth, but it’s not bad by any stretch. It’s definitely light and easy drinking. I could tackle a few of these in a sitting with ease.

Summer Teeth is a nice Kellerbier. It’s not a style that features a ton of pizzazz, but this is a nice release. It’s pretty straight forward, tasty, and easy to drink. Who am I to argue with such a combo? Try a bottle or two and see for yourself…it’s good stuff.

12oz bottle purchased at the Lizardville on Miles rd.

Pale yellow elixir, huge, frothy, white head, planty of lacing.

Wonderful aroma of citrus, lemon zest, cane sugar, grains--summer fragrance.

Tart hops, citrus, light malt finish.

Light body, smooth, well balanced, tangy.

Very nice summer brew. Perfect for outdoors activities. Another well made brew from Columbus Brewing.

Poured into a Samuel Smith pint glass on 5/10/12

Lightly hazy, pale golden amber (though it has more of a yellow hue when held to the light). The head is white and hits just shy of two fingers before reducing to about half that. A large slather of lace off to one side.

The aroma is clean with notes of toasted grain, cracker, prairie grass, some lemon overtones and a hint of floral hops. Soft layer of dusty pollen. Very nice.

Summer Teeth might leave you mirroring the namesake, what with its excellent hoppy punch that rattles the palate. Juicy and grassy hops take charge, backed by a well-seated malt bill that offers plenty of flavor with just the faintest sweetness. Finishes quite dry.

While the body isn't scrawny, it's perfectly fit for the latest, fashionable bikini without so much as a sit-up of pre-summer toning. Indeed, this moderately effervescent beauty is meant for wind and waves.

Summer Teeth is simply extraordinary.

This is an unfiltered Kellerbier. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a transparent yellowish golden with a slight haze. Huge fluffy white head with great retention and very sticky lacing. Lots of malts and grains upfront blended with a blast of pear and white grapes. There's a nice spiciness to this one and it definitely has a hop bite. Lots of earthy flavors. There's also some very subtle pine in the mix, blended with some grass. This beer is so crisp. The mouthfeel is awesome, lots of carbonation, but in a very smooth and creamy way. This is such a smooth drinking beer. And it's really fun to drink. I only picked up a single, but I'd love to kick back with a sixer on a hot day. Extremely refreshing. Awesome beer.

Highly recommended. I'm very impressed. It's one of those lagers that opens your eyes and let you know there's some really interesting ones out there. Really really nice beer right here..

A - Pours a very pale yellow color, can see completely through this. Puffy two finger head.

S - Some zestyness here. A bit of spice, bready malt, a slight hop aroma.

T - Almost citrusy on the taste, a bit of lemon and orange peel. Follows through with some hop bitterness before finishing with a good amount of bready malt.

M - Clean and crisp, perfect.

Overall - Quite a tasty brew. I can definitely see this being a summer go-to. Seems like it would be superb on a hot day. Another fine beer from the folks at CBC

I really need to be finishing up these notes from my summer tasting before Autumn...

This beer is a cloudy yellow-gold in color. The white head that forms is just over a finger tall and leaves good lacing as it drops down the glass. Activity is constant in the glass but avoids the overly spritzed effect of some overcarbonated beers often particular to lighter styles.
The aroma is grassy, and really what it is is a fairly simple balance of hops and malts with a wheat presence. If I can glean something about this beer's nature from the aroma, I'd say I'm in for something pretty dry and a little spicy with some grassy earthiness to it.
The flavor is well-balanced, as expected from the nose, and is both hoppy and tart. Grassy, lightly spicy, slightly leafy, lemon and some other (perhaps orange) zest and citrus notes blend very nicely into a light but flavorful and refreshing beer.
It's light with a bit of spritz to it but avoids the soda-like overdone spritziness, giving a good bit of crispness and also allowing for some smoothness to fill it out.
While I'm fairly new to the style, this is simply a well-constructed beer.

looks like hay color with a small cap of white that seriously stayed for about a few seconds with no visible carbonation. aroma is earthy, musky grain, touches of light grass, but really rather bland and without much in the way of any depth, light feel, watery at times without any really big flavors or huge noticeable chnage from the smell. clean finish with little aftertaste left not much on the palate

A- A pale yellowish gold in color. Fairly hazy for a lagered beer with a small white bubbly head that becomes slightly patched.

S- Some small lemony and light phenolic smell. Crisp lager aroma with some bready yeast character lingering as well. Floral noble hop aroma in the end becomes the defining characteristic.

T- Bready malt forward with a linger sweetness. Small touches of citrus pokes in for a moment before disappearing. The end of the flavor develops the noble hop floral taste. The end of the beer is slightly bitter to go along with the noble hop taste.

M- Medium light in body with moderate carbonation as the end is dry.

O- A nice crisp lager for the summer time. A nice switch from the usual American Pale Wheat summer beers that flood the shelves at this time of year.

A- Pours a hazy golden color with a sticky white head. Head becomes a thin layer of bubbles and leaves some spotty lacing at best.

S- Smells is pretty wheaty, crackers, pale malts, pepper, a bit of spice and Noble hops. Pretty tame.

T- Taste is also pretty tame. Balanced for sure, a bit of sweetness, lemons, grassy and bready.

M- Pretty light in body and well carbonated.

O- Pretty descent summer beer.

Part of the local 6-pack sent from schwaeh, thanks Steve! Enjoyed in a Sam Adam Perfect Pint glass.

A: Pours a light honey golden color that's not quite transparent; chill haze?. The white head is soapy and recedes to a ring. Crazy good carbonation.

S: Nice banana/spiced clove scent with some distant orange zest; light bready malt, and the lager yeast has some distinct fruitiness, almost like a Belgian as I can almost get green apple.

T: Crisp and clean, floral and a touch sweet from the yeast. There are hints of lemon and spices.

MF: Feels like a lot of body for a lager initially, but finishes instantly and cleans the palette with a crisp carbonated finish.

O: Refreshing summer beer. I can see this as a beer that would attract a lot of attention when the temps start rising.

Thanks to Chris for bringing this to DE for me.

A: Pours an unfiltered golden color with a thick/foamy 1.5 finger white head. Nice retention and thick, sticky lacing left behind. Lots of carbonation bubbles released from the bottom.

S: Light floral and grass notes, some lemon, biscuit malt.

M: Light wheat, lemon and a bit of orange, and a bit of lager yeast. A little bit of peppery spice comes through as it warms.

M: Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. On the dry side, but still crisp.

O: A nice summer lager, refreshing and easy drinking. Couldn't ask for much more. Its only fault is the dryness.

12 ounce bottle (2011 batch with new label). Served in a mug, the beer pours a hazy gold color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is grainy (wheat?) and sweet malt, citrusy hops (lemon peel), and a bit of grassy hops. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes mostly like grain/wheat/bready malt and some citrusy hops (lemon peel). Mouthfeel/body is light, it's crisp and easy to drink. I think it's a nice refreshing brew, a good choice for summertime. I can't believe I haven't tried this before, I might have to pick up some of this over the summer. Definitely worth a try.

Got this as an extra from Seth (mbpbugeye).
Served in my Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

A bright, clear, glowing gold. Small white head quickly becomes a tight collar of bubbles, leaving no lacing.

Smells of spicy hops and dry light malts. A nice lemony Curtis notes tags along as well. The beer is pretty dry, with some lemons, and spicy German hop notes.

This is good. Very easy drinking. Light body with effervescent carbonation.
Quite tasty and enjoyable. A perfect craft beer for a BMC drinker... And a good beer for a Ba looking for a nice summer brew.

Note- This was actually consumed back in September '10.

12 ounce bottle from Ryan011235, poured into a tall slender mug. Hazy gold with a bright white 1-finger head, scattered drippy streaks of lacing. Nice fresh aromas of husky grains and half-dried hay with a touch of floral sweetness, perhaps a touch spicy. No 'perhaps' about it come sippin' time, though; the noble hops take over right away. The momentary spicy and bitter sting are a great match for the crackly and crispy malt profile. Very clean finish with just a hint of bready aftertaste. Exceedingly quaffable.

Overall impression: Ryan, feel free to keep the CBC express rolling my way. These guys know their way around a brew kettle.

Not my favorite beer or style, but this turned out to be a really solid and quaffable summer brew by CBC.

Hazy golden yellow with a bubbly bone-white head.

Smelled doughy and zesty, must be made with wheat.

Taste is also of wheat, some lemon, and of those typical German yeast strains.

Mouthfeel is great, super carbonated, crisp, clean, goes down easily. Drinkability is super high too. I don't see myself wanting more of this any time soon, but were it offered to me I could likely drink a 6-pack on a hot summer day while out throwing the horseshoes.

Enjoyed this one quit a bit. Taste re minded me of their Pale ALE.Pretty cool label too!

Appeared somewhat dirty kinda like some English Pale ales you see, probably due to being non-filtered,wish more beers did this.

Smelled bready and grainy slight wiff of alchohol.

Tasted about the same as the smell with some buttery pretzels thrown in,really nice!

Mouthfeel was medium bodied and very pallatable.

Went down nicely, glad to of tried this brew!
