Looks like this is the first review of the 2011 batch. I think it is slightly different this year.

Some cool pictures of the process/hops used:
http://tinyurl.com/Brewing-H-O-P
http://tinyurl.com/Hopback
http://tinyurl.com/Dry-Hop-Nugget

This year's is brewed with: Citra, simcoe, nugget, and cascade. Dry hopped with 70lbs of Ohio-grown Nugget Hops.

One post also mentions that this beer is brewed with 7lbs of hops per barrel, where regular CIPA is only brewed with 1lb.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. A tall dense white head immediately overtakes this beer; really nice retention on it as well. The lace is sticky and clings in wide sheaths across most of the glass. The brew beneath all that foam is fairly clear, and is a brilliant shining true gold color.

The aroma is heavenly... this is the reason I love fresh hop beers - the aroma of fresh wet hops is unbeatable. Sweet pine resin and deep floral accents beg for consumption. Lighter notes of pineapple and cantaloupe only add to the depth.

I think the first prominent feature of the flavor on Super Fresh H-O-P is the sweetness. It's not an over-malted, sugary sweetness, but rather a floral, honeyed sweetness. It's different, but something I am really enjoying. Earthy clover and herbal chamomile type notes play well off of the honey flavor I kept getting. The residual flavor showcases pine nettles and sticky bitterness.

The hops are surely powerful, but never out of control, nor bitter enough to pull this out of an IPA categorization (which I prefer, I think). By the second glass I was getting some pretty deep grassy flavors as well.

The mouthfeel is full of sticky, juicy hop oils and a long-lasting sweet crackery malt flavor. Then it all ends with bold bitterness.

Overall this is one of the best fresh hop/wet hop beers I have ever had. Both unique and a hop-head's wet dream, the wet hops in this beer make it one to revisit as often as the season permits.

On tal at Columbus Brewing this evening.

A - pours a daily hazy very light orange. Color is a little hard to pickup in the dark bar.

S - a flowery, tropical and pear nose. Juicy fruit gum. Earthy. Slightly grassy. As it warms, a slightly weird fruit nose appears that I can't put a finger on the profile.

T - tropical hop forward with a strong citrus finish. Tropical and pear, fruity, hops coat the touge hroughout. The bitterness is firm but not coarse enough to make you pay attention until half way through the glass. 100ibus? Maybe but air must be coming from later additions.

M - slightly slick - light bodied.

D - middle if the road. It was fairly easy to drink for the states 100ibus not not that enjoyable (compared to Bodhi) I can't wait to take a other drink.

Overall a really nice fresh hopped IPA - I think I did it a disservice by drinking it about a Bodhi. Going to pick up a growled next week when I get back into town. Awesome it's made with Ohio hops - go Ohio!!

A- Pours a hazy golden amber color that is just a bit darker than their IPA. A fairly thin white head, that becomes a layer of bubbles on top and leaves some layered lacing.

S- Smells pretty good. A ton of hops here mainly tropical fruits and pine. A hint of caramel malts pop up in there too.

T- I really like this one. So far one of my favorites of the Hop Odyssey. A strong bite from the piney hop with a good mixture of malts and tropical fruits.

M- Medium in body and lighter side of medium in carbonation.

D- Very easy to drink. I really like this one might be heading down for a refill.

32oz growler filled at Save-On Tobacco & Beverage in Mentor, Ohio

Poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy golden-yellow; small white head that fades and leaves nice retention and lacing. Smells like pineapple juice. Lots of orange with even some subtle hints of mint in the nose. Mango is in the mix. Some bready caramel notes, but they're very subtle. The flavors are very juicy and refreshing. They don't pop and aren't as crisp and bitter as I recall, but they're still enjoyable nonetheless. Tons of citrus. Lots of pineapple, which is what I really get alot of. Tons of pineapple. More mango and orange zest. Hints of pine. Malts are there. It's sweet, but very clean. The mouthfeel is great. It's soft on the palate; medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Extremely smooth and dangerously drinkable. Once again, this isn't really bitter and the flavors feel watered down at some moments, but it still manages to taste really good despite lacking bite.

This is like drinking fresh pineapple juice, literally. Very nice IPA from Columbus. It gets extra credit for being so smooth and drinkable. It doesn't have that sharp/crisp bitterness alot of wet-hop/fresh-hop IPAs have, but it's still very tasty. It's worth checking out if given the opportunity.

On tap in a pint glass at the brewpub on 10/9/10

The lighting seems to be throwing off the color a bit but it looks pretty close to pineapple juice. It's cloudy; not quite as murky as the aforementioned juicy, though. Poured a thin head, maybe 1/8th inch that left skimy bubbles pooled in the middle & some lace. Decent, if inconsistent, lace that is webbed & drippy. Lacing is better on the second glass.

Well-structured, the aroma is sharp, dry & hoppy (of course). It seems brighter than the standard CIPA. A touch of pine is appreciable in an otherwise tropical, citrus fruit blend. Mango, tangerine, peach or nectarine, subtle pineapple & a grapefruit spiciness. Malts are present but hard to distinguish, as they are no match for the hops.

The flavor doesn't crackle quite as much as I was hoping for. Nevertheless it has an admirable bitterness to hop flavor ratio & isn't wanting for spiciness (seems a tad peppery). Dry, piney bitterness with a near-perfect resiny bent. The citrus is toned down compared to the nose. While I cannot call the citrus muddled, it doesn't have great clarity; I think this may be a result of the Citra hops which I've found to have denser flavor than comparable hop varieties.

Over time I've come to appreciate the depth of citric tones; beefing up the flavor without being the sole focal point. As with the aroma the malts are an after-thought. There's just some faint, toasted bread notes in the back. However, the second glass had a more pronounced sweetness, almost bubblegum-like.

The flavor is augmented by fairly active carbonation. It makes for an attention-holding experience, causing this medium bodied brew to seem lighter than it is. Finishes very dry with some lingering notes of pine, grapefruit & sticky resin.

Though the description given to me was "golden ale" this is definitely a full-on American IPA. I'm really happy with the way this one turned out since it's so different from CIPA. Is H-O-P better than its year-round counterpart? No, but it's very solid & I think the fleeting freshness plays a big part in it. Definitely recommended. I hope CBC makes yearly habit out of it.
