A highly refreshing Golden ale. Fool's Gold is brewed with a fruity English yeast strain, small quantities of wheat and oats, and gently dry hopped with Citra hops, all creating a synergy of citrus and tropical fruit.

Poured from a bottle into pint glass.
Pours pale golden, not too much carbonation. Not much lacing.
Smell is a little bit sweeter than expected; hops come through as it warms up, though.
The dry-hopping gives it a fair amount of bitterness for the style, I think; it's not my taste in golden ales but it might be yours. Once the initial hop notes pass it resolves into a well-balanced, standard golden ale flavor.
Feel is crisp but with a little bit of body to it.
Overall I'd rate it closer to a 3.5 than a 3.75 but a lot of that is down to personal preference. If you like hop-forward golden ales you'll be a fan of this one if you can get it.

It smells horrible and doesn't have much good going in terms of taste. The name Fool's Gold is very appropriate. One of the worst beers I've had. I'd rather have about any adjunct beer than this. I will finish it though part of me doesn't even want to. Just glad I only got one bottle.

12 FLUID OZ bottle
Served in a tulip glass
This beer pours a golden hue with suspended yeast visible. It is topped with an inch of off white head that leaves spotty lacing.
It has a yeasty, doughy smell. I get light fruitiness.
The taste follows the smell. I has a sourdough taste with lemon and lighter flavors.
Medium bodied and mouthfeel
I am glad I only bought a single. Not my bag.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 2/23/2019. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, red apple, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, red apple, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, red apple, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is an awesome hoppy American blonde ale. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Feels like classic English hops, along with the Citra dry hops. Awesomely vibrant/dank/earthy, and fairly juicy hops, with fruity English yeast; and a great clean pale/wheat malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example as expected.
