Poured from a can into a teku glass
Appearance – The beer pours a super hazy orange color with a massive and intense head of off-white foam. THE head has an amazing level of retention, very slowly fading over time and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a big of an earthy and floral smell mixed with some light vegetal notes and bits of orange and tangerine. Along with these aromas comes a touch of yeastiness and breadiness, as well as some pine and must. Other fruit aromas of peach and apricot, as well as a note of berry are in there as well. While it’s an odd mix of smells, it actually works rather nicely.
Taste – The taste starts out with a bready and oat flavor mixed with some light fruit of tangerine and orange, as well as a decent showing of grain and caramel. Right from the start there is a herbal and earthy hop flavor, along with a light floral hop. As the taste advances some of the vegetal character that was in the nose comes to the tongue, blending nicely with the earthy flavors nicely. A touch of pine develops, all while the sweetness increases as peach apricot and pear come to the tongue. A bit of hay and must come along at the end, and with the mix of sweet, malt, and hop, a rather thick and vegetaly dank, but rather pleasant taste is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and chewy with a lower level of carbonation. For the mix of flavors, the feel is fantastic, making for a nice slow, flavorful sipper.
Overall – This is a fun one. Very different in nature, with some odd flavor mixes that in the end come together well (at least for my palate). It reminds me a bit of the old Deschutes Hop Henge. Quite tasty and fun

Draft at brewery. Hazy golden pour, thin silky head. Fruity aroma, citrusy. Taste is layers of malt and citrus, each one supporting the other. Sweet, creamy, piney. Full.

We are living in the Golden Age of double IPAs. No matter where you live or where you shop, you can find at least one outstanding can or bottle. Some of the greats are national, like Dogfish 90 Minutes and Stone Ruination/EnjoyBys. We have and get fantastic regional DIPAs even here northern NH, like White Birches's and Moat's dankdankdank Call It a Day; on good days the biggest local beer store isn't sold out of the simply delightful Clown Shoes Space Cake from way down South in Haverhill, MA. In this genormous age of beers, this stands out. It has a non-intrusive highly palatable distinct flavor of its own. I'm not sure which hop or combination causes this, but when this enters your mouth, its hard not to smile. As the bartender at one of the local brewpubs described their also-good-but-nowhere-near-as-good-as this: It makes your mouth feel good. Try it if you can find it.
