some hops some burn't sugar It's drinkable hell it's even likeable
but the interesting US elements like hickory notes are just too muted for me

Pours dark copper, clear, with one finger of light beige head, slowly receding to a thin film on top, bit of traces on the glass too.
Nice clear nut up front on the nose, some salt, toasted bread, butter (faint butterscotch), raisin, overripe apricots, fig, earthy hops.
First sip is like taking a bite of generously buttered toast. Feel and taste too. Some random dark fruit after that, faint sour cherry, a citrus zing, with some grapefruit in particular. Some nutty notes, faint roast, finishing with bitter grassy hops, crisp and dry.
Light bodied, light carbonated, has that buttery, fat feel in the mouth, sticky on the tongue, a bit cleaned up by the bitter hop finish, but still there. Aftertaste is citrusy, hoppy, some toasted malt and a tiny bit of alcohol too.
A clumsy brown ale forced into the American style by adding the "necessary" hops, disregarding many other aspects. The more than oily, almost gross, sticky body is the biggest problem here. Some nice notes hidden in there, but too little, too late.
