First off the size of the place caught me off guard, it's huge compared to how I thought it was. I liked the layout, everything was easy to find and more importantly clearly priced and labeled.

Everything in Austin home brew seemed of good quality, I was looking for some growlers and found what i was looking for and was very happy that they were the flip top kind and that they even had 2 types of handles.

Service was great, the guy who helped me was really helpful and full of information, he even showed me the best way to clean a growler out and talked beer with me for a while

Had to rate price higher cause most of the stuff they carry is a bit pricy but the staff, service and selection make it worth it you can even order online and pick it up at the store, I thought that was pretty cool

Definitely going back for all my brewing related needs

It has been getting better lately mostly because that Harry and the hendersons-Sasquatch looking owner has kinda stepped aside and let someone with real business ownership knowledge take control and run it how it should be run. I think if you completely remove him from the picture this place would be top notch.

I thought that the customer service was very impressive. The selection was like nothing I had ever seen in a homebrew store. However, I did find the prices to be a bit higher than that of the homebrew shop I used to work for. Overall a good experience. I will shop there again.

So lucky to have AHS just a few miles from home. Always helpful, never been rude. There are a few things I wish they on display like an all grain tower but they have literally many hundreds of recipes both in house and commercial approximations. I'll never get through it all in my lifetime at my rate of brewing. Disappointed by their mini mash class though, was just talk no helpful demo.

Overall everything I could want from a homebrew shop. So much to brew so little time money and space.

I quickly forget the lack of a homebrew store in my city with austin homebrew just 60 miles down the road. It is worth the drive to see all of the latest in brewing up close. However, the shop also makes it easy to keep my supplies stocked with free and timely shipping with orders over $100. I have never had an issue with an order and every time I make the drive down the staff is always helpful. I receive their monthly emails to see what is new and on sale. I feel blessed to have such a premium store so close.

When ever I'm in Austin and I need something for brewing I try to make a stop at AHS. They have probably the best selection in the state and one of the best selections in the country I would assume. If you are a seasoned home brewer or just starting you can probably find what you are looking for, if not they will order it for you. Their store is large and very clean. They have a separate room where you can find the grains you need and even mill them yourself. The employees are very knowledgeable and are willing to offer advice if you seek it. They have a vast selection of clone recipes for purchase, many of which I have heard are very good. If I lived in Austin there wouldn't be any other place I would need to shop for all of my home brewing needs.

I have been a customer of AHB for the last four years using their website to order, and have also had the pleasure to shop there while in Austin for my brother's wedding.

Their store is extremely well organized and almost everything was right where it should be (on the shelves and not outback). Their website is also extremely easy to navigate. I would suggest that any homebrewer sign up for their mailing list to get word on their monthly sales. They consistently have the best prices on the web, and have some of the best service I have encountered in the homebrewing community. Their shipping prices are also extremely competitive. I will continue to be a customer for as long as I am brewing.

Being new to home brewing, these guys made me feel right at home. I just started home brewing about a month ago and bought all my equipment from AHS. Delivery time with the internet order was extremely fast. They have all kinds of equipment to choose from, they have a tone of recipies for every type of brew imaginable. One of the great things is all of the clone brew recipies that they have from many micro/craft breweries.

The people that work at AHS are extremely helpful and are willing to go out of your way to help you find something and your questions no matter how simple the question is. The customer service is out of this world. Some companies out there could learn a thing or two about customer service from AHS.

I highly recommend using AHS for all your home brewing needs, big or small. These guys are great and you will not be disappointed.

Purchased a number of items online from them (temp controller, oxygenation system & grains) online as they were the cheapest for the order with their free shipping.

The grains come vacuum sealed in individual bags as requested. The other items were great, and quickly shipped. The service was good, as I had my credit card compromised, and they informed me of it and I was able to get them an alternative payment arrangement without major issue.

They have most things, although some other online guys have more and cheaper grains. The big difference maker in this purchase was free shipping (which was quick). I will use them again if they are the cheapest!

I have never been to another homebrew shop, but I know how to appreciate good service. The folks that work there do so because they care about beer and brewing, and are very knowledgeable. I owe a lot of the development of my knowledge and understanding about brewing to these guys. They also get involved with the beer community, not only putting how to brew videos on the website, but they also contribute at beer festivals around town. I have only brewed a handful of batches, but every time I have been I have gotten an excellent answer for my sometimes difficult questions. Love this place.

Now I have only been to a few HB shops, but this one, now located on Metric Blvd, is by far the best one! The new store is giant, the staff is knowledgeable, the website, if you can't get to Austin, is well laid out and easy to navigate. And, there is just nothing that I can say wrong about this place. The moment I walked in, I saw that this is a place for Homebrewers and just anyone who likes a great hobby shop. Plus it was not dark and seedy like a lot of older HB shops can be. Not speaking for all of them, but it can't get much better than Austin Homebrew. They are actually the reason I got into homebrew. In collage, I worked across the street from their former local on N. Burnett and saw their sign. I was 18 and never thought about brewing your own beer as an option. Soon after I started to read the books of Michael Jackson and bought Complete Joy... and now I homebrew as much as I can. This is the HB shop I use and will continue to use for their selection, in store recipes, and resonable shipping rates if I am out of the 512. L'Chiam.

I have not been a customer of this establishment myself, but I have been ther recipient of two of their beer kits. A friend who was in Austin picked up two of their extract kits as gifts for me, and I'm very grateful. She knew nothing about homebrew and said the staff were very helpful and patient. I certainly appreciate their efforts.

I have made their Kolsch kit to date and look forward to making their Special Bitter. I normally tinker with ingredient kits, but I made the Kolsch exactly as written. The results were very good and authentic-tasting to me. I was happy enough with the beer to enter it in a homebrew contest.

Looking through the AHS website, I am convinced my results would be typical. They seem knowledgeable, well-stocked and reasonably priced.

A good homebrew shop that I'll drive 2 hours to get to. The staff, minus one grouchy little guy..., is helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.

They have some pretty good recipies in their binders at the front check out, and don't charge for grain to be milled...*cough* northern brewer *cough*

Hop selection is good with sales from time to time on whole cone, which I've never used.

Pretty much every yeast in stock with some bacteria there too.

Good selection of equipment too. Plenty of kettles, hoses, fermenters etc... all instock and ready for you to take home and brew.

They are also helpful with finding good beer spots for you if your a out-of-towner.

Good homebrew shop and will also ship to you at a fair price.

I love Austin Homebrew Supply. Ever since I started homebrewing, these guys have been guiding me along the way. Always friendly, always helpful, even when they are busy.

The selection is great, but lacking in the malts dept. They could use a few more, but it's easy enough to get by with what they do offer. Their prices are in-line with, or just lower than, all the other big shops.

I moved away from Austin for a few years, and the local shops were inadequate in comparison, so I always ended up ordering from AHS while I was away. Even when I lived in San Antonio... Especially when I lived in San Antonio...

JB, Jeff, Ed... All of the AHS guys are great and willing to give their advice and assistance on equipment, ingredients, recipes, etc. It's nice living 100 feet from the store, so I'm kinda bummed they are moving in February 2k10, but it'll be a bigger, better shop!

A nice sized store with tons of supplies. Lots of hops, different malts, and very very fresh yeast. My oktoberfest yeast is about 1 week old.

Service is exceptional and the staff is very helpful and pretty knowledgable.

There are a very good amount of malts and hops and yeast here, but there are a few malt types and hop types that aren't available (although it's very few). For the most part I can get whatever I need here.

The prices are fair on hops and malts. I got some average prices on equipment too. I think they could go a bit cheaper with their hops and certain specialty malts. However, I got a 50 lb bag of grain in store for 40 bucks! It cost me 60 to get it shipped, so every time I'm in Austin I'll pick up a bag of grain.

Recently made my first order from Austin Homebrew Supply.

It was a great experience. It took a few minutes to get familiar with the website. The grains are divided into bulk and smaller orders areas, and your promted to order grains in recipe groups. Once I figured it all out (15 minutes) it was a pretty well designed site.

I entered my recipies (down to the ounce, a money saver), and they milled them into a single bag. I was making 2 complex recipies, and I had to make no substitutions (which is a common headache for me).

$7.99 shipping if your not in a hurry saved me as well.

I will definetly use Austin for my next grain order.
