500ml bottle bought from The Vineyard, Belfast
Poured a deep dark mahogany brown when held up to the light. Mocha head poured thick and foamy then faded slowly to nice thickish covering... some light sticky lines of lacing around the glass...
Aroma - Fairly strong roasted malts, dark chocolate notes, light ground coffee, very faint smoke notes, some treacle / burnt sugar sweetness, leathery, toasted nuts, faint liquorice, some pepperiness...
Taste - Nice roasted malt bitterness, toasted / burnt bread, chocolate to the fore, faint smoke, some creamy / milky traces, woody, light treacle notes, some grassy / peppery traces, some oatiness, sweet nutty notes...
Feel - Quite smooth and creamy... light bodied... very drinkable and surprisingly refreshing...
Overall - A pretty good stout although maybe a bit one dimensional. If the tracle flavours and alcohol were beefed up this could be very good... certainly worth a try though...
