Newcastle Cabbie has a very thick, creamy, beige head, pronounced lacing, a clear, deep, reddish, dark-brown appearance, and a few ascending stray bubbles. Aroma is of sweet, bready, brown bread crust, and the flavor is of the same, with a noticeable medium roastiness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Newcastle Cabbie finishes mostly wet, refreshing, and delicious. No off flavors or aromas. So delicious!

Appearance - It is a very dark brown in color, with a white head.
Smell - It is a sweet / fruity malt smell.
Taste - It is mostly a dried fruit taste, with some coffee and chocolate coming in.
Mouthfeel - It is a very light beer, for being such a dark beer.
Overall - Its an ok beer.

Sampled last night on 1/15/14. Single 12 ounce bottle was bought yesterday that the local grocery store for just $1.00 out of the "Discount beer bin". Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F and poured into a brandy snifter,
Pours a very dark brown with about a finger of a tannish head that leaves lacing around the edges of the glass. The aroma of dark roasted malts and dark fruit with a hint of chocolate. Didn't smell to 'hoppy". The taste of the roasted malt hits you right up front with a coffee taste with a hint of chocolate BUT has a harsh 'hoppy' finish that is slightly dry as well. Too much of a bitter finish for me and took a long time to drink it. Overall, not even close as their original 'Brown Ale' at all which I really like.

Appearance: deep amber, almost brown color. good clarity. a finger or so of a tannish head that leaves a bit of lacing on the edges.
Smell: full of dark fruits. prunes and a hint of cherry. overlying a toasty malt base. no detectable hop bitterness.
Taste: opens up with a hit of prunes with just a touch of cherry, slightly rough transition into a toasty malt base.
Mouthfeel: Light and slightly refreshing.
Overall: this beer surprised me and was better than i thought. I got it to fill a space in a dark mild tasting and it placed third of four. the fruitiness in this beer needs a much bigger malt profile that is not available in the dark mild range to battle the fruitiness.
