12 oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Poured dark reddish brown with a good size head that settles to a thin layer but leaves good lacing.

S: Mild, with roasted grains, some caramel, and a hint of coffee.

F: The flavor follows, but with some light hops at the finish... and not as strong as hoped. Pretty well balanced.

M: Crisp yet smooth; dry finish; medium-thin body.

O: A good looking brew, with good flavor for style and for a 4.2% ABV.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. The label lists the abv at 4.2% and there is a short description of the beer as well.

Appearance: It has a dark reddish garnet colored body with a small just off white head on top. This head settles quickly leaving a thin film of lacing that just hangs on.

Smell: It is light overall and has some odd earthy and leathery notes with some light toasted bready maltiness.

Taste / Palate: It’s flavor matches the aroma perfectly and both the flavor and palate feels light, subtle and thin. Overall I like what’s here but I would just like a little more.

Deep brown colored with a moderate amount of light seeping through. A half inch of off white to light khaki colored foam covers the top. Aroma of malt powder and a bit of chocolate. The body is light, smooth and creamy. I get malt powder and chocolate in the flavor with a very gentle note of bittering hops. This is a subtle yet tasty, sessionable beer.

I always like English milds. nice dark appearance with a quickly vanishing white head. In the light it has a red color. Smell is mild hops and sweet malts. Taste is the winner here. Medium baked bread with earthy hops that mellow to a light toffee. Mouthfeel is lacking and dissapates quickly.

Poured into a standard pint glass
Dark brown in color, with a moderate head of light tan foam.
Aroma-Faint, toasted malt note
Taste-Subtle chocolate, hint of coffee. Overall not bad, certainly session able, if a bit middle-of-the-road. Nothing here to blow your doors of but an easy drinker.

Pours a beautiful reddish black with excellent clarity. A nice tan head that disappears tether quickly. The nose leaves a lot to be desired as it is very light and boring. Soft licorice, anise, burnt cereal; a touch of spicy hop character at the end. The taste is also very slight with a thin mouthfeel and maybe too much carbonation. Not a fan of dark beers with this much effervescence. Burnt breast crust and the slight acidic sourness that comes with it is the main flavor. Deep caramel flavors as well. Possibly some hop backbone but make no mistake this is a very small beer. Sessionable for sure, but underwhelming. The acidity of the blackened grains makes it harder to drink than a light lager of the same ABV. Regular old Newcastle is much better.
