If it were not for beers like this, I doubt I would be the beer geek I am today.
In all honesty, this beer sucks as bad as McEwan's India Pale Ale--cidery and adjunct-y as hell, but I, being a nostalgic one, have a soft place in my heart for a beer which took me by the hand and helped me on my quest for Beer-halla. As a matter of fact, my first few forays into homebrewing were attempts at reproducing a brown ale such as this one.
Of course, now I know better.
Pours a crystal(60)-clear head with medium-tight, mostly white head. Aromas are fruity and zesty. First snort is always apprehensive, due to skunk-inviting clear bottles. This one sounds the "all clear," but fruity aromas come on strong as the first taste reveals a cidery bite, which is most likely due to some type of adjuct fortification.
Midtaste spirits around the sides, while winesap-apple fumes evaporate from the tongue. Aftertaste finishes vaporously clean and absent, like an American lager, which reminds me that this beer probably amounts to a British Bud.
I have noticed a lot more Bud-Hook Nut Brown on the shelves after this company started buying prime real estate in the advertisement scene.
Give 'em Hell, Newcastle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disappointing. It says Brown Ale, but it's not brown and you could have given me a Bud Light and I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference in taste.
Appearance was nice I had high hopes, poured a gorgeous deep ruby red/light brown color with a decent sized head.
Smell was disappointing. Malt and hops. Slight smell of wheat bread.
Taste was most disappointing at all. I taste literally nothing. It tastes like I am drinking soda water or beer water. Low carbonation makes it feel very thin and watery. Upon drinking one a night later I taste the skunk.
Overall this is bad. Won't be buying again won't be recommending.
