i was a bit worried about this beer when i saw it came in clear bottles, but i thought id give it a try. i was even more worried when i got it home and saw that there was a line of sediment down the side of the bottle! this beer was still well inside its BB date but must have been sitting around on its side for a while for this much sediment to settle out. on to the beer...
pours a nice dark caramel color with a thin creamy head. after a few sips, the head is all but gone.
there is a light aroma to it, but the only thing i could compare it to would be my dads home made wine, so im not sure if anyone here could relate. it wasnt bad, just interesting.
has a nice thick malty sweet flavour to it but from looking through some other reviews, i would like to try it from the cask as there is room to improve. and thhere wasnt much body to speak of. a pretty thin beer and light carbonation.
after reviewing a porter a while back, it seems this was pretty similair, just missing the roasted malt maybe. a bit more to my liking, but thats just me.
