Poured from a bottle into an american shaker pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a clear orange tinted amber with a 3 finger tan colored head.
Smell: This is the part about the beer that really throws me for a loop. While there are moderate amounts of toasty malts, there is a deeply and overwhelming fruity aroma full of black cherry, plum, dates and a lot of medicinal scents. It almost reminds me of cherry cough syrup. Not a good way to start.
Taste: I'm really glad the taste of this beer didn't follow the nose. There's a prominent grassiness from the hops, but that is soon followed by a caramel toffee sweetness that balances it out nicely. Once you swallow is when those darker flavors start to show themselves in the taste, and the beer definitely finishes well with a pleasantly deep fruity aftertaste.
Overall: In it's entirety it would be hard to call this a bad beer. The flavors a deep and complex, but it's also very sessionable and easy to drink. The flavors present aren't really my thing, but I know some people who might be into a brew like this. Probably for someone who is just getting into craft beer.

Appearance: Clear medium amber in color, with a modest white head, which soon fades to a dusting of foam. Thin, fine-beaded lacing is scattered in patches on the glass walls.
Aroma:Rich toasted malt and caramel dominate the aroma. There is also a strong nutty aroma.
Taste: Opens with abundant toasted malts. As the taste progresses, some roasted flavors become evident. AS the taste progresses, slightly burnt flavors are evident. Later in the taste, there are hints of dark fruit. Finishes with mild, lingering burnt notes.
Mouth feel: Soft, and a bit thin, with slight carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Pleasant and drinkable, a decent session beer.
Presentation: Packaged in a short twelve-ounce brown glass bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Poured from a "half-liter" bottle into a "balloon" glass.
Dark amber in color, with a moderate head of off-white foam.
Aroma-Sweet toasted malt
Taste-Toasted malt, mineral note, faint sweetness in the finish. A sessionable, pleasant, if rather ordinary brew.
