poured from 12oz bottle to 20oz 'pint' glass...
a: healthy two-finger off white head. crystal clear amber color.
s: sweet, almost cola like. malty, not much hops, if any. not what an american expects from an ipa. lol!
t: if you bought this expecting big hop bitterness and citrusy flavor you will be sorely disappointed. however, if you bought this expecting a fine example of a british ipa then you will very happy. residual sweetness, caramel, rock candy with an underlying bitterness that you would expect in some of the mildest american ambers. slightly floral hop flavor and aroma. slightly...
m: if you pour it right you will be left with a medium-low carbonated brew. lightly coats the mouth but finishes clean. slight bitterness lingers.
o: i like this! i think it's a great session ale with lots of great flavors that is a nice detour out of the sea of american ipa's that try to out wallop the next. too bad it's only around for a limited time, i would certainly drink another.

Chilled 355ml bottle: BBD 30 Sep 2013. Poured slowly into a Gordon's thistle shaped glass (well they are from the same brewery) on 17 Aug 2013.
Looked fine: but what doesn't in a thistle shaped glass? Good gold coloured body with a full white head sat on top.
The aroma was of malty molasses: I thought this was an IPA? Caramel and toffee esters fill the nose and those malty smells carry on into the taste, this is no IPA, winter or otherwise.
Fruity notes appear within the taste, more so as the beer warmed in the glass, but the semi-sweet maltiness drowns them out, the hops not really asserting any influence at all.
I actually liked it: my sweet tooth picking up the bits others don't enjoy. Body depth was fine and the alcohol (5.2% ABV) sat nicely within the brew.
