A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a clear consistency. There was a half inch of fairly long-lasting, foamy head. Good lacing.

S: A somewhat underplayed aroma that featured malt, mild hops and a grainy quality.

T: Tasted of sweet malt, a mild hoppy quality and some grain in the finish. Not a particularly bad flavor, but not an overly dynamic one either.

M: A good amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Light- to medium-bodied.

O: Not the worst beer I've ever tried, but kind of forgettable.

Appearance: Light amber. Bone white head that dissipates to a thin layer that almost colors the whole top of the surface of the beer.

Smell: Meh, almost as hoppy as a bud light.

Taste: Its the bud light of English IPAs.

Mouthfeel: Not bad. Maybe a little too much carbonation.

Overall: Its clear to me this beer was meant more to introduce people who don't normally drink craft to start drinking craft, albeit not very good craft.

Poured into a pint glass. Clear copper color with small white head. Average head retention and some lacing on the glass. Smell is a very faint maltiness, not that inviting.

Taste is better, some grassy hops bitterness set against a bready malt beer. Not that outstanding in flavors but nicely balanced and drinkable.

Mouthfeel is crisp and a bit thin. Overall this is not a bad session beer but it really does not stand out that much.

On tap at Sawmill Tap Room 12/17/11

Pours a medium shade of copper with a thin lacing of loose, thin white head. There's little retention. There's a faint floral aroma to the nose. The taste mildly malty and the hops offer floral notes, but it's oddly medicinal almost cough syrup like. The bitterness hangs around on the palate for a while. It's medium bodied, but overly carbonated.

I'll be avoiding this one in the future. The medicinal off flavors were too overpowering.

A-poured into a pint glass. It was a nice amber color with a nice white head that dissipates somewhat slowly. No lacing or cascading.

S-Funky, very adjunct laden, and overall just odd. I immediately knew this was not going to be good.

T-bitter, soapy dishwater, chalky, hint of toffee, and a lingering odd bitterness. It was undrinkable. The worst beer I have ever tasted.

M-Not too thin, from what I could tell from the few sips I could take.

D-Drain poor.

Overall, this was a major disappointment. I thought this would be an easy drinking English IPA, instead it was an undrinkable English IPA. I can honestly say it was the worst beer I have ever tasted, absolutely horrible. Maybe something happened to the 12 pack I bought and they spoiled or something. I don't know, but I've got to find some poor sole to take the rest of this 12 pack.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Color was light caramel. Probably an inch of head. Caramel-colored lacing with some bubbles on the top. Some frosty film on the sides that stayed throughout.

Smelled caramel malts first. Also some toffee, light coffee and light chocolate in there as well.

Caramel malts up front in the initial taste, followed by a smooth toffee taste. Toasty or roasty finish.

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish.

A decent beer. It started out very good with the sight and smell, but the rest wasn’t as good. I would try this again though.

Pours a clear dark amber with a nice fine-bubbled pale tan head. Aroma is hoppy, a little malty and a little spicy. Hoppy, spicy flavor makes it taste somewhat like an IPA mixed with a winter warmer - distinctive and interesting. Texture is firm-bodied, edgy and fizzy, leaving a nice, if not persistent, tingle. Look for it.

12 oz bottle served in a pint glass.

Pours a clear orange-amber with a thin white head. Head reduces to an island and ring but leaves decent lacing.

Aroma: Medium strength smell of roasted malt. Hints of baked bread, earthy hops and roasted nuts. {2012 sample was below average, and rather metallic; aroma ratings averaged]

T: Even less hoppy in tasting than in the aroma, so it fares poorly as an English IPA. Tastes good and works well as a lively English Nut Brown ale, however.

M: medium body and carbonation.

O - moderately tasty but under-hopped IPA that's more of a cross between an English Brown and an English PA.

Beer poured from a bottle into a mug shaped glass

A - Beer pours with a beige one finger colored head; very, very bubbly body; body has a brown, dark copper color; head does not hold well, at all, and completely disappears leaving behind no layer of film or bubbles; no lacing either

S - This one is kind of tricky, but it does have some pleasant roasted and nutty malt characteristics; ginger and other spices like grains of paradise might be in there; hints of sour noses; crisp and zesty; white grape wine nose; hops; floral and spices

T - Caramel and nut flavor hit the senses first; very astringent, ginger flavor with a heavy bitter backdrop; in the middle of every sip is a champagne-wine flavor; tight grass and hop flavor; I'm guessing there is some ginger, mostly from the burn, and allspice or grains of paradise, because there is a spicy dryness that comes into the beer

M - Semi-creamy finish; bitter aftertaste, very heavy; effervescent; very astringent lingering flavor; tart feelings are left on the side of the tongue for a while

D - Weird lingering taste kind of throws me for a loop; I can't say it was great, but definitely unique; not sure what the brewers were thinking when they came up with this beer, but it seems to be a blend of IPA's; you have been warned
