look: 3.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

poured from a bottle into a standard pint...

a: short head, off white, quickly dissipates. dark brassy color, transparent.

s: pineapple, cream, caramel, a little spice.

t: caramel malts, dried dates, medium toast. floral hop flavor. medium-dry finish. bitterness smoothed out by a residual sweetness.

m: medium body, maybe a bit too carbonated from what i would expect for a pale from across the pond.

o: sub 5% puts this in the sessionable category. easy drinking with lots of flavor. not what i expected from a this but interesting nonetheless.

Pours a nice looking dark tan hue. A slight bit of carbonation, but a nice thick white head that retains throughout the entire drink.
Smell has very nice caramel notes to this beer. Also, a bit of good dry hop smell, too.
Taste has nice caramel and toffee malts to it. The hops are not the usual European hops that I am used to. Instead of being bitter, they are very sweet.
Mouthfeel is very nice on this beer. A good thickness and carbonation creates a solid beer with good refreshing qualities.
Drinkability is awesome on this beer. Very good tastes going on, but a very nice balance. I could, and have drank these beers all day long. Great beer for the spring time. I nice new offering from Newcastle.

Poured from an undated 12 oz. bottle: bright and clear copper hue with a quickly receding white head. The pour looks exactly like a Bass ale.

The aroma was sharp and peppery with an almost rye-like aroma.

The ale has a refreshing, rounded malty flavor very typical of an English ale with a faint, buttery aftertaste. The mild hop profile helps support the malt and keeps the ale from being one-dimensionally cloying.

The body was light with a thin, sleek and short-lived mouthfeel. A slight sweetness lingers on the palate and quickly fades.

It is very quaffable and lively if a little boring. This ale is clean and sessionable but hardly memorable.

Pours a copper color with a very small white head that leaves some lacing. The aroma is of caramel and hops. Tasted pretty much like the smell suggests with toasted malt as well. Overall, surprised that it was pretty good as I do like their "Brown Ale" also and fairly smooth to drink.

A: Amber-color. Pours with a very thin head. While it's no porter, it is darker than many pale ales.

S: Nothing special. Despite the low ABV, you can smell the alcohol. It is not an aromatic beer.

T: Good full-bodied taste. Plenty of hops, but not overpowering like New Belgium's Ranger. It is grainy and sweet.

M: For something with such a thin head, it is certainly well-carbonated. Classic pale ale sharpness. The feel is like that of a stronger beer. It is very smooth.

O: An easy-to-drink pale ale that is a great value ($8 or $9 for a sixer). A great way to introduce your friends to the joys of pale ales. It has the sharp edge you expect, but not as hard as the Ranger or Sam Adams' Latitude 48.

Appearance - 4/5 - transparent copper, pours a one finger white head that disappears fairly quickly

smell - 4/5 - can't smell anything but I think that is due to the charcoal grill near me

Taste - 3.5/5 - I instantly tasted the same strange flavor that permeates their nut brown ale. I'm beginning to think it is the water creating the flavor, but I don't know for sure. Aside from that, I find it more enjoyable than the brown. While it has a faint sweet flavor, it leaves a dry aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - 3.5/5 - seems like a moderate amount of carbonation that doesn't add our take away from the beer.seems to have a medium body and is somewhat refreshing

Overall - 3.5/5 - not a bad brew, but kind of ho hum overall. I could care less whether I drank it again or not

12 oz. bottle,

A: Pours a medium amber to copper with a light white head, some lace.

S: Light notes of sulfur, malt, minerals, some citrus.

T: Biscuity malt, moderate hopping for the style. Good flavour, nothing overwhelming at all.

M: Light-bodied, crisp, easy drinking, refreshing.

O: A solid quaffer, nothing more. Worth a single pickup for fans of this style.

Pours a clear, dark amber with not much head - but the latter may be an artifact of the pour. Malty aroma has a fruity undertone and is not strong, but still invites a taste. Flavor - whoa, now that is good flavor. Malty core, apple plus more than a hint of pear, hint of horehound. Smooth and somewhat fizzy texture has more than average body. If this is not outstanding, it is still worthy of a try.
