This beer really showcases the honey. I don't get the saison character from the yeast or the body. Almost like an amber honey ale. Not overly malty but malt dominant likely from the strength of the honey. Would like more Brett presence and a lighter body.

750ml bottle. Poured into a snifter glass 11/9/2014.
A- Medium orange-copper body. Two finger white head with nice retention time. Rings of lacing. [3.75]
S- Sweet caramel malt, hints of syrupy honey sweetness, a bit of earth, not much tartness or funk at all. [3.5]
F- This beer is on the sweeter side. Honey, caramel, yeast, toffee, not much bitterness or tartness or funk. Not particularly complicated, although it does work reasonably well for being such a sweet beer. [3.5]
M- Medium bodied, on the syrupy side, slick and slightly sticky with a dry finish. Again, not much on the finish as far as tartness or funk goes. Still remains sweet to me. [3.25]
O- Doesn't seem to fit the definition of a farmhouse ale. Haven't had a farmhouse ale this sweet without much of the yeast presence or any funk/tartness. I realize that farmhouse ales/saisons have a wide and broad spectrum by definition, but it's certainly very different than any other saison I've tried. I think I would recommend aging this one, if this in fact does have Brettanomyces in it. [3.25]
Final score: 3.49

Opaque saturated orange, soapy white head that billows up nicely as it should. Some random spotty lacing around the edges, and lasting surface coverage.
Grainy and yeasty nose with a very faint hint of musty hay from the Brett, though it seems underdeveloped at this point.
Taste is a bit better, light honey and malt character with a dry and lightly bitter finish. Not sweet. Clean, dry, and effervescent. Has enough body and carbonation, which is nice to see finally from this brewer. Balanced and easy drinking. I wonder what a few months of bottle-conditioning will do to bring out the Brett character more...

Capped 750 served in a Transient tulip.
Pours a glowing golden amber with a fleeting thin white head; little lace and settles to a soapy ring. Nose is heavy on bready malt, grain, light booze, yeast and honey sweetness. Flavor follows with sticky sweetness throughout and a strong bready, yeasty, and grassy saison base. Medium thick body, dry and sticky finish. More Biere de Garde-y than saison and overly sweet.
