We stopped at The Noble Fir on Ballard and the server there told us about the Sixgill, a new-ish beer bar on the hip Fremont area by the same owners as Noble. Off we go!

The Sixgill was pretty packed on a Friday night but we still managed to grab some seats at a high-top wooden table by the entrance. The ambience is similar to The Noble Fir, all that wood and shelves and books and casual-cool class. Here they have maps to browse, though. MAPS! Giant maps to die for. This alone makes it my favorite bar ever :-)

A ton of beers on draft, including some locals/regionals like Engine House, Breakside, Fremont, Ninkasi and Rogue, but the attraction here is the rarer stuff from "cult" breweries ("hipster beer list", as one Yelp reviewer put it). Witness Evil Twin Lil'B, Cowboy Smoked, Naked Lunch and Hop Flood, and six (SIX!) Mikkeller, including Brunch Weasel, Bacon Beer Geek, Til Via Fra and Spontanpeach.

They also have good ciders on tap, which is a rarity. The bottle selection is small but rather nice: Sucaba, Even More Jesus, Boulevard Saison Brett and other sours and wild ales. Don't miss the spirits menu if you like good things like mezcal and amaro.

A total class act. No wonder The Sixgill was voted one of the best bars in America by Esquire in the short period since its opening. Seattle is lucky to have this joint.

I've been here a couple of times (twice now I think?), and have been impressed both times. Both times have been kind of late on a week night (thanks weird work schedule!), so it's been pretty quiet both times. Clean environment classy casual kind of groove. As I said, both times it was pretty quiet, but I received pretty prompt and attentive service. I had a glass of water as soon as I sat down, and one of the two guys behind the counter asked if I needed anything while the other guy was already getting my drink. They consistently have a pretty fantastic selection; unique and delicious. I haven't plumbed the depths, but pretty much everything I've ended up getting became a favourite. The food is pretty good, but expensive.
All in all another fantastic option in a city full of them
