The Phoenix Brewing Company filled a void in the area. The recently opened in downtown Mansfield. The brick building is an old mortuary and was the first fireproof building in Mansfield. There is street parking or a brick lot behind the brewery. It has a patio on the side.
Upon entering the bar takes up about half of the room. The place is not large. Fifty people would fill up the place. The walls are exposed brick with newer woodwork. They started with five in house beers and have since expanded there portfolio to seven. The have a pilsner, pale ale, ESB, oatmeal milk stout, IPA, wheat, and brown ale. They also have guest taps typically from Millersburg Brewing which is an hour away in Amish country.
They offer pints or flights of their beers. Flights are four samples that in which the glasses are placed in a coffin shaped paddle. The tap handles are also coffin shaped. They only have slices of pizza from a local pizza place, Two Cousins Pizza. They have had food trucks at various times and have numbers for places that deliver there.
The bar tends to fill up on weekend nights so get there early. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I was even fortunate enough to get am impromptu tour of the place including the history of the building and formers tenants. It is a newcomer on the craft beer scene. Their beers are average to above average but nothing earth shattering. My personal favorite is the Ferryman, the oatmeal milk stout. They also serve local wine. It is a nice place and worth a visit if in town.

This new place is set in an historic building in the carousel distric of the town near a decent resturant (city grille) and a winery, you can park and walk to all 3. The guys are just getting going so there are a lot of kinks. There is no food there but they do have some arangements with the local establishments for that. They had 4 of their beers on my first night and 3 the next as they run out. They are open on the weekends and it gets pretty crowded. I was there on a thursday night and was very comfortable and not too crowded. Very friendly and the beer was really pretty good considering that this is just getting up and running so Kudos for remembering that the beer comes first. The Beer garden is not yet done but will relieve some of the overcrowding this summer when done I hope. They relly need some more staff as no one likes to stand for 15-20 minutes at the bar for a drink.
I will look forward to the day that the details are worked out and these guys can start experimenting with some different beers. I will stop by on my next pass thru the area
