An artisanal style IPA combining mildly bitter hops, garden fresh jalapeño peppers and cilantro. It’s an easy drinking IPA without the burn or bittering one might expect.

Poured from a can. Looks good, has a nice amber/orange color, same color as the can (not a coincidence). Smells very good. Can definitely detect the jalapeno. Nice flavor, but not too strong with the peppers. Good IPA flavor without being overly bitter. I like this more than I thought I would.

This is one I avoided for awhile because I wasn't sure if I could trust Jailbreak, who I find to be hit and miss, with something as complicated as a jalepeno brew. Obviously, I have changed my mind. Enormous head shoots forth and almost double faults over the edge but holds back at the last minute. I get light hopping and biscuit first but after a little while, I can detect the spicy pepper in the nose. Definitely easier to find the pepper in the flavor along with herbal hops and the aforementioned bread note. This isn't great, but it is interesting and different. After a few sips, you really do start to feel a mild burn, even on your lips and the corners of your mouth. Worth a try for pepperheads and the adventurous.

12 oz can

pours a dark copper orange color, white head. decent lacing. aroma is moderate jalapeno flavor - definitely there but doesn't knock you over. similar to the flavor. not really that spicy, the mild caramel malt and earthy hops help balance. just a bit of a lingering smoky spice flavor. medium bodied.

I unexpectedly liked this beer. A carbonated hoppy jalapeno beverage which I'd enjoy pairing with spicy eats more than drinking singularly. The copper color lured me more than the smell. Overall, I'm glad I had the pleasure of sipping on this freebie as I might not have taken the plunge.

Got in a BIF from oline73. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 7/22/2016. Pours hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big jalapeno pepper, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange peel, light pine, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of jalapeno pepper, juicy citrus/tropical hops, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big jalapeno pepper, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel bitterness and light pepper spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of jalapeno pepper, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of jalapeno pepper, juicy citrus/tropical hops, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.9%; with minimal pepper heat as well. Overall this is a very nice pepper IPA! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of jalapeno pepper, juicy citrus/tropical hops, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, with the minimal pepper spice and heat. Has nice presence of pepper flesh flavors in balance with a really juicy hop profile. A very enjoyable offering.

Good head, nice color, average smell. Disappointing taste. Expected to taste jalepeno and cilantro and but it has an over powerful bitter hop taste. Wife agreed it was a bitter beer. Expected better from Jailbreak. Love their Amber.

This was just not for me. I like the idea, but the heat from the peppers really subdued the hops for me. Instead of an IPA with a slight touch of pepper, I got a pepper beer with literally no hops.

Not too hot. The jalapenos are there but maybe more bitter than hot. Good looking beer as well. Nice amber orange with a substantial two finger off white head.

From a can, pours a brilliantly clear copper-amber. Nice finger of dense off-white foam. Smell is a bit muted, but there are piney hops mixed with some spicy pepper, with a little sweet malt. Taste follows, with just a bit of the jalapeno heat. Not getting the cilantro. Feel is on the thin side of medium.

Overall I liked this beer much more than I thought I would, given that I'm not generally a fan of adjunct beers. This drinks fine all by itself, but would be killer with a Mexican meal. A well-made beer worth trying for sure.
