Beers like this are what brewing one of the most interesting jobs around. A little different every year, due to the fact that it is truly 'handmade' in the sense that we clean and roast 30 local sugar pumpkins. With big spice notes and the flavour of real pumpkin meat, this beer is in your face, yet subtle at the same time. Not pumpkin pie in a glass, but unmistakably roasted pumpkin.

Had two 650 mL bottles. The ingredient list says "kabocha squash" rather than pumpkin.
Has a cloudy orange body with little head. It has a great aroma that balances the spices with what I thought smelled like pumpkin. The taste, however, is more like a cooked squash (kabocha or butternut). Again, the spices are balanced with the squash, but I get more malt taste than anything else (but not over-whelming, just balanced). Overall, an average to above-average pumpkin ale.

I've never tried anything from Spinnakers before. Although their beers are readily available in BC Liquor Stores, I judged them by their labels and avoided them.

This one's quite dark for a pumpkin ale. It's a deep red brown. Head doesn't stick around for long, but leaves lacing that does. I think I do smell pumpkin, along with some spice. Pleasant and appealing aroma.

Upon tasting, well, it's not really what I expected. Very creamy, on the heavier side. A bit sweet, but with some bitterness in the finish. I don't know if I'd have it again, but it's not bad.

Spinnaker's Brewpub 'Spiced Pumpkin Ale' @ 5.3% , served on tap at GCBF'16 & from a growler purchased for $13 , & a 650 ml bottle for $6.50
A-pour is a dark cola brown from the growler to glass with a small off white head leaving a minimal lace ring along the pint
S-spicey , more cooked pumpkin than pumpkin pie
T-good dark Pumpkin ale , interesting mix of spices leads to a complex swallow
MF-mild carbonation , medium body
Ov-ok/good beer , better than average Pumpkin ale , also recommend the 'Mushroom & Beer Pizza' while sampling this fine brew from glass , pint or growler
