I remember when I had to point out to these noobs that this was an amber ale, not an ipa. Like, its amber in color and it says "amber ale" right on the label, how do you screw that up?

Anyways, like I said, amber ale, amber color. Had a nice 1/2" off white head, decent retention to it. Aroma of those Cascade hops and red malts.

They definitely drop a lot of C hop bitterness into this beer, for the better. Caramel and cascades. Chinook? I actually like this beer and it isn't really much different than Nugget Nectar, but a huge difference for me is the format. Bomber only? Screw you, even if relatively decently priced.

This really tasted like a glorified homebrew- lacking of flavor and malt, with an ashy and distractedly bitter aftertaste. Meh.

Pours a finger and half of head on a clear dark straw body.
The aroma is a lot of pine resin.
The taste starts with mild lemon bitterness, then middle to end is a big pine resin bitter. Not my favorite flavor.
The texture is crisp.
It has an intense resin smell and flavor which is great if you like that.

Poured out a clear, orange color with ruby highlights. Smelled fruity and malty with a dose of caramel toastiness. Fruity and malty with caramel and bread crust. Mild bitter bite. It was crisp and sharp.

Poured from the bottle into an elongated tulip glass.

Opaque orange glowing tangerine body color. Thick head and enormous even off a slow pour. Large retention and thick clumping. Very aggresive, a little overboard, but still impressive.

Thick doughy malts. Lots of bakery smells and doughy yeast. Light caramel and a slight floral hop angle. Not particularly hoppy or hop forward.

Palate is very watery. Lots of seltzery feel and perrier like carbonation. Wet and mineraly. Virtually no malt presence or chew. No caramel and more importantly no hops. Weak. Wet. Lifeless. Aftertaste brings a little taste of hop bitterness, but it is indistinct, and makes the beer come across as slightly hoppy perrier.

Overall even with no bottling date or the possibility of faded old hops, this brew just isn't even getting the basics right. No malt backbone or sweetness, very dissapointing since it is an impressive looking beer.
