Bottle share at Brothers Provisions - Rancho Bernardo, CA
Thanks to the guy who passed this one around. 08/26/15
Great herbal dank weed notes to this one.
Dark russet with ruby highlights. Dense and creamy tan suds with lots of sticky mess scattered across the glass.
Dank leafy greens with pithy grapefruit and pine neddle. Sugary caramel nut toffee and bread with some dried red fruits and spices.
Copious amounts of marijuana flavor here. Its rather impressive to me how dank weed this one tastes. Earthy grapefruit with green herbals, and sappy pine comprises most of the hop flavors while th emalt is caramel toffee, bread, and raisin/dried dark fruits. A few subtle earthy spices. Moderate upper amounts of bitterness wash in to a dryer finish with tons of lingering resins. Alcohol is well masked.
Enjoyed this quite a bit.

Pours a rich orangish red colour with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. The nose leads with lots of tropical fruit like orange, pineapple and guava. This is followed up with sweet caramel malts. The malt leads the charge, backed up by pine and citrus hops giving it a nice lasting bitterness. There is a fairly pronounced alcohol burn that evens out the strong carbonation. Another strong outing from Steamworks.

650ml bottle. The ingredient list just screams out BC - a mix of British and American sentiments.
This beer pours a clear, medium ruby amber colour, with one anemic finger of weakly puffy, somewhat foamy, and generally bubbly ecru head, which leaves some chunky iceberg profile lace around the glass as things slowly abate.
It smells of dank pine needles, muddled citrus pith, bready, doughy caramel malt, black orchard fruit, a bit of herbal mint, and further leafy, weedy, and rather perfumed hops. The taste is bready, grainy, and faintly toasted caramel malt, some buttery toffee, weakened leafy pine astringencies, orange and tangerine-tinted vodka, more indistinct red fruit, and edgy herbal/weedy tincture notes.
The bubbles are quite low-powered and mostly ineffective in their wan frothiness, the body a solid medium-heavy weight, and kind of sugary in its otherwise unblemished smoothness. It finishes well off-dry, the caramel, toffee, and various fruitiness all sharing a laugh, under the 'threat' of a hovering, but seemingly benign alcohol trident.
A tasty, and none-too boozy Imperialized version of this namby-pamby style - the malt grabs the headlines, via its robust sweetness, while the West-coast hops kind of dial it in, but it's enough, overall. Yup, simple, unassuming, and easy peasy to put back...ummmm...right?

8.5% ABV, 80 ibu, 650ml bottle.
A - redish copper with half finger head. hazy, lacing.
S - red fruit, tangerine, candy sweetness, brown sugar, floral, little bit piney.
T - medium body, thick & smooth, not overly sweet as the nose implied. second layer of the maltyness. well balanced. centennial hop cut thru, aggressively n sharp. in a enjoyable way. juicy.
O - pretty good beer, refreshing aroma, smooth n big thick mouthful, easy drinking, ABV and ibu go down very well! everything comes bigger when the beer got warmer. will get it next time.
