The term "Pale Ale" dates back to the 1800s when all beer was dark brown in colour. New malting techniques led to the development of pale malt, a barley malt kilned at low temperatures which contributed very little colour to the finished beer. Hence the birth of Pale Ale, an amber- to copper-coloured ale you could actually see through. Plenty of British Crystal malt in the grist lends this ale its rich colour, its caramel maltiness, and adds the occasional whiff of toffee to the nose. An addition of American and German hops to the kettle at the end of the boil is used to suffuse our Pale Ale with a gently spicy hop finish.

smells significantly better than it tastes. taste is way too sour and astringent, almost seems like something has gone wrong. lighter in colour than most other pale ales. their hazy pale ale is way better, i hope it becomes more available.

16oz can (coded 050) poured into 14oz teku. Can gushed on opening, costing 3-4oz of beer. Poured a very hazy straw yellow cor with well over an inch of white head that moderate retention and light lacing.

The aroma and flavor were in lockstep; very light grains, topped by the musty, stale, dirt-floor basement dankness of old hops.

The body was typical for the style, medium light, carried good carb, and had a semi-sweet finish. drinkability was a bit rough, what with the stale hop aspects.

Overall, cannot recommend.

This pale ale is exactly what you'd expect from a pale ale. Its hoppy, light, and refreshing. Although, it is a bit boring. Its good but they don't take any chances so its not mind blowing in any way. Still a solid beer, I'd buy it again.

Tastes more like an IPA than a PA.
Flagship? Meh.

Pours a clear, medium gold/light amber coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smells of sweet, biscuity malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of tangerine, mango and just a hint of pine. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of biscuity, caramel, slightly grainy malt and citrus/tropical hops. Notes of grapefruit, tangerine, mango and a hint of pine. Also has a light herbal and medium floral note to it. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

Decent old school Pale Ale that perhaps starts out a little too sweet, but finishes with a good bitterness. A little too floral for my taste though.

Poured into a nonic pint glass.

Look: Very light burnt orange hue under a white head that recedes to a thick, even film. Random ink-blot lacing.

Aroma: Lightly sweetened caramel corn with subtly spicy chinook hops.

Taste: Vert woody and dry to start off, then it gets a little spicy with decent citrus rind bitterness. Not overly bitter though, just hints of grapefruit and orange.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, dry.

Overall: Pretty solid all around, the aroma somehow tops the taste.

Very disappointed with this one after really enjoying the Flagship IPA; this is your old school run of the mill pale ale, that tastes like someone dropped a copper penny in the mash and the result was some burned malt and caramel

-I understand this appeals to some folks, and they consider it "balance", but I say go drink a bock or a brown ale if that's your swag

IBU's are actually 40, this is wrong.

Pretty good for the price.

Pours an almost totally clear light amber, some lacing, decent white thin head.

Smells sweet, earthy piney, citrus.

Tastes like it smells with a hint of dish-soap.

Overall pretty good for the price.

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.

Gleaming body color like polished glass. Crystal clear, with a pale amber, mixing a brass tan quality, and very fine carbonation, plentiful, if hard to see as it seems so microscopic. Head is a solid three finger and fine soapy quality. Bleach white in color, and popping with pill like lacing. Good looking exciting brew.

Nice aroma. An excellent malt quality of light toast, hints with crusty bread, but goes it seems to slight biscuity cookie territory. Subtle hop quality, not too distinct and sticking with pale basics. Very simple and good nose.

Very good palate. Not too much surprises going from the aroma. An almost light flirting session quality of wet mouthfeel, but the malt sweetness hits lightly with toast and a sweetness that is good. Sharp almost woody bitter, but easily in lighter territory forgoing astringency, but leaves aroma as minimal, perhaps a touch of pine and earth. Session almost like feel, but hits with more malt power and making for a real good easy drinking.

Solid pale ale. Good one to have.
