On-tap in Gastown. An off-bitterness that is... astringent.Kent Goldings and Mount Hood hops, but it didn't work for me.A little fragrance. Orangey colour, some lace. Under average IPA as not balanced and a first try that would have amazed someone never trying a West Coast IPA but the world has moved forward.

Pours copper with minimal head on tap
Smell and taste hits pine through and through some grapefruit and a touch of barley balances it out
Feels a touch thick and clingy in the mouth
A solid brew worthy of being enjoyed when around.... No the best ipa but a solid example

Dark golden tint, with a small head and traces of lace clinging to the glass. Not your typical overhopped IPA. A decent english style IPA. Medium bodied, sweet fruitiness and moderate bitter finish. I had this after their North By Northwest IPA so to me, this was a tad watery. It is a pretty good session beer IMO, but I prefer their seasonal IPA.

Stepped out for a beer while last in Vancouver, very busy at Steamworks, so just had a seat at the bar.
Slightly hazed, orange copper color with short and dense head that left lots of lace. Has a leafy / floral hop smell with some citrus. Hoppy flavor, pine resin with grapefruit hop finish. Some malt, but not really enough to balance. Dry, slightly acid aftertaste. Medium body, low carbonation, about as expected. Lots of bitterness and hops, but not much depth. Good, but there are better examples.

I am transcribing this from notes that I took last summer. Poured on-tap at the Steamworks Brewing Pub in Vancouver, BC, it was served in a pint glass. The beer is a very light, clear yellowish color, more reminiscent to a lager coloring than an IPA. There was a light, frothy head that settles into a thin layers that clings to the side of the glass as you drink. Smells are extremely flowery with only a little hops influence. The flavors are fairly floral, as well. Juniper and jasmine, with a little bit of hops, again only in the background. The aftertaste is remarkably a little more hoppy, but overall it is mild, and the beer has a clean, crisp finish. Not bad, but left my wife and I wanting a little bit.

Came out a very deep gold with no head on top at all. All that was there was a thin ring around the edge. No lacing at all. Smells very bready and malty. Some citrus in there, but very grainy scent. Interesting.
Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. Flavor is bitter from a nice hop presence. Piney, slightly spicy flavor. This was wonderfully drinkable. I downed this very easily. I was impressed with this. Could be tweaked a bit, but very good. I'd love to try their other offerings. Recommend.

Had on tap at the brewpub in Vancouver.
Looks decent. Hazy copper with a small khaki head. Nose is very mild hops, slight hints of citrus and peat. Taste is simple. Musty hops. Quite easy. Mouthfeel is averag-ish. Sessionable IPA, but nothing special.

I found this to be disapointing in that the bitterness had no backing and the nose was lacking. Could be the type of hops but this lacked the bigness of a real IPA. The pale ale actually had more body and a better hop nose. Not the best beer at Steamworks.

Dark golden with a nice head of off-white foam that left some very nice lacing patterns in my pint glass. Aromas are strange. Where are the hops? This basically smells like the pale ale that is on tap here except for the fact that the malts are even more subdued! Taste is not hoppy enough and seems a bit weak and contrived for an IPA-styled brew. Mouthfeel is also too light and almost watery, and this hurts the drinkability for me. Not horrible, but this brewery makes some much better beers, which I need to add and review, because this ipa and their pale ale are really not their best brews...They make a good wit though, and some other kick ass seasonals as well...

1 inch head capping an almost opaque hazey orange brew with tons of lace. Mild, lazy carbonation pierces the gloom. Nose is just not that hoppy. A light floral note over an almost soapy, nearly non-existent malt character. A bit weak for my liking.
In the flavour the hops come across piney and a little oily, but the messy, soapy malt profile lends little good to the experience. A light floral sweetness in the back with a slight crackery note finishing with a stringent acidity. Mouthfeel is very dry with medium carbonation, medium body, typical for the style. This is drinkable but a bit boring. I wanted more balance and the hop profile is unimaginative, making the beer come off as bland. Beginner stuff.

Clear and amber with low head retention. Very little lacing. Floral aroma with a soapy characteristic. Bit of a carbonation bite up front and very little in the way of sweetness. Bitter middle and backend in the traditional English style. Could have used better balance between the hops and malt. I found it closer in style to a pale ale.
