12 oz brown bottle with no freshness date. Blurb about the beer on the label.

Fluffy foamy off white head, a touch of haziness from either a chill haze or yeast on a dull yellowish straw hue. Head retention is decent.

Aromas of a hay like grainy malt, lemony herbal hop and a faintness of yeast.

Light crispness, more smoothness, on a moderate body. Raw snap of grain upfront with a doubling of hop bitterness that wants to linger. Soft graininess with a powdery, almost doughy character. A kiss of yeast in the back with hints of alcohol and a drying husky grain.

I bet you this brew on tap is lovely, pretty good in the bottle to say the least. A raw lager, not like most at all … light yet flavourful. As others have noted this could be a great crossover beer if not just a brew for macro drinkers to enjoy.

12oz. bottle poured into pint glass.

A: Pale straw-yellow with a bone-white head that starts at about a finger and a half and eventually deflates to a bubbly cap. There's literally one streak of lace down the glass. Not really impressive, but I didn't really expect much.

S: The aroma is definitely stronger than that of the macro lagers. Nose is slightly sweet, cereal-like grains with just a touch of spicy hops. The scent here is plain but definitely not offensive. I can appreciate this.

T: Slightly sweet bready malts. Slightly oat-like at times. A nice bit of spicy hop flavor towards the middle. Finishes relatively clean with just an ever so slight touch of hop bitterness. Light, yet flavorful.

M: A wonderful medium body. That might sound strange, but my least favorite part of most lagers is the thin, soda-like bodies. Victory Lager boasts a nice, comfortable body that lets you know that you're drinking a beer. A surprising touch of creaminess. This one goes down unlike any other lager I've had in the past.

O: Admittedly, lagers are NOT my favorite style. In fact, they're one of my least favorite styles, BUT I can appreciate when someone hits the nail on the head and brews a good one; that's exactly what Victory has done here. There's nothing over the top here. There's no flavors that'd scare away a BMC drinker. This is a just a pure, clean, highly enjoyable lager. I look forward to bringing this with me to BBQs during the summer months.

The beer comes in a light clear golden color.

The aroma has a nice grassy aroma, and a breadiness and grainy character.

The flavor is extremely refreshing. A decent punch of light citrus, grass. Then an extremely crisp cracker/bready note. A bit of a flaw from DMS or something, but a reasonable amount for the style.

A good easy drinking brew.

First review, first Helles tasted as far as I can remember. My comments will by no means compare to that of a beer judge, but here goes:
--bottle to pint glass; light urine / apple cider color (label notes golden which is appropriate)
--nominal head with aroma lightly sweet, but 1st thought is Foster's
--taste: like that of a standard DOMESTIC lager (which says alot pro and con, since not an American beer fan), albeit a bit smoother and definitely not as bad hoppy
--aftertaste: hangs there on the tongue / lingers in your mouth; dry, palpable cottony mouth feel requiring you to take another hit to quench it
--buzz meter: drank pre lunch@ 1130 so mild to mod on empty stomach
--burpage: slightly acidic / hoppy (this would be standard)

Drinkability: ala comic book grading scale = FINE.

Big Fan of Victory, since lived in Philly for some time, but with so many beers to try / re-try, not one I'd be HANKERING (my new category) for / no love lost; but would probably reconsider, as we all would and all know, if we had one on tap in Downingtown.
Ch33rs factor = indifferent.
