This beer has a golden color body with a small fizzy head that quickly disaptes ton a very, very thin lace around the edge. The smell has a lemony, malt aroma to it. The taste is well balanced with malt and some lemon hop flavor to it. It is well carbonated with a nice mouth feel, no after taste. Over all this is a nice easy drinking beer.

Purchased a bottle at Julio's Liquors in Westborough, MA.

A: Yellow hue. Brilliant crystal clear clarity. Minimal white head.

S: Grainy sweet. Clean and crisp. A full and pleasing aroma. Very malty with only limited floral hop bitterness.

T: Grainy and sweet like the aroma. Some slight noble hop bitterness finishes. Some corn flavor.

MF: Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

D: Highly drinkable. Have had better hellles from Germany - this is good.

on tap at good dog in philly

Pours a clear straw golden color with a lighter white head resting on top. Fades fairly quickly with a few spots of lacing.

Floral hops with a swift bitterness in the nose. Straw and toasted grain malt. Touches of grassiness and lemon peel add a nice crispness.

Light hoppiness up front, grassy with lemon peel. Soft malts with straw and toasted grains. Light steelyness and faint fruit tones. Finishes super crisp and clean.

Lighter body, higher carbonation, tingly and a little dry on the tongue. A solid, drinkable lager once again from Victory.

I received this in a trade with jwc215...thanks, Joe!

This pours from 12oz bottle(best by Jun 19 07) a clear, bubbly straw gold colour with a large head of foam. It settles down after a while but stays for the entire session as a fine layer and there's lacing.

The smell hasa pretty hoppy aroma mixed in with some malty tones.

The taste on first sip has a nice hoppy presence... I'm getting some lemon zest. Further sips in and there's some non sweetish malt and bread there but they are on the light side. It finishes crisp and clean and makes for a good thirst quencher.

The body is light as is the carbonation. I like this one and it has a good German feel to it.

Bottom line: This is a good Lager...no bells or whistles, just a good solid Lager. I'd drink it again.

12 fl. oz.
Enjoy by Jan 21 05 (3 days late won’t kill me)

Growing up in the world of the Yuengling Lager, I certainly have had my fill of the lager. This isn’t a typical lager in taste but it is in appearance. Color is light gold (maybe 10K) with a light head that doesn’t hold on. 2 row German malts battle German whole flowers with the malt gaining the big victory. In the taste department, there are malts in the biscuit line, slight metal, and more malts with a slight hops tinge. The malts perform a touchdown dance in the aftertaste with some hops on the sidelines. This review is clearly tainted by an Eagles NFC Championship game victory. Unlike the Eagles, its really light at the end. The nose is full of grains. Its like a barn full of hay. There is light yeast and wheat present.

Refreshing, clean, good summer beer

Pours a light gold to pale straw color (clear), with a one finger head that dissipates rather quickly (no lace). Besides a slight hop aroma mingled with a touch of malt, I personally had a little trouble picking up any other aroma characteristics. The taste starting a little sweet for me, moved to a slight hoppy flavor and finished crisp with the faintest grain flavor. Overall mouth feel was a little thin almost watery to me. Bottom-line is that this is a decent Helles Lager. It won't knock you out with complexity, but it is enjoyable as a simple Lager. I will definitely be enjoying a few of these beside the grill this summer.

12 oz bottle with best by May 6 2011 on the label.
-Poured into a Duvel tulip. (maybe should've grabbed a pint glass for this lager, but, hey... shut up.)

I didn't give it the most vigorous pour. So, literally no head. Ring around the collar bubbles. Very close to white foam when swirled. The beer color is mid-range yellow. Straw color. Looks refreshing. I had thought on the verge of gold, but, I take that back. Very clear. Some floaties (Maybe coagulated proteins. Makes me want to go to a brewery and have some unfiltered helles lager.)

Sweet nose. Makes me think of mead. Might just be the sugars, but, almost a honey quality to this aroma. Earthy hops. There are some hops that impart a honey-ness, but, they are English, if I remember correctly. The malt, honey nose adds to the refreshing qualities. A Helles should be refreshing... so, here come the points.

Definite maltiness upfront, but, the hops come in quick with spice and grass. I was expecting more malt sweetness and bread. However, the color isn't that dark. So, maybe I should've known better. Not bad by any means, but, it does leave maltiness to be desired. (Maybe I just want a bock.)

The mouthfeel is a little thin to me at this moment. The carbonation is fine for a session beer. There are watery feelings. This aspect make me wish that those spots were filled in.

Overall, a real good beer. I'm a big aroma dude and that part is great. On the other hand, I don't feel that it carried over to the taste. I've helped brew Helles in production and the Honeycomb qualities were strong on all fronts throughout. I wanted more in the taste. Then, again, I'm a day-to-day taster. I really enjoyed the first 5 bottles and this one fell short of those.

Future edit in mind.

A- pours a light, golden yellow out of the bottle with nice frothy white head. not much carbonation bubbles & night much lacing down glass

S- lemon & grassy notes are about all I detect. perhaps a bit grainy hops as well. I never quite feel lagers bring a lot of notes on the nose but this is pretty indicative for the class.

T- tastes much like the nose: floral hops, grassiness & lemons. pretty clean and fresh.

M- light body that is a little light on the carbonation

D- this is drinkable beer for the dog days of Summer. pulled this out after I mowed the lawn and it did the trick!

This beer poured a bright and clear amber color with a thin white head. A very easy drinking light to medium bodied lager beer that matched perfectly with the wings I was having. Well controlled hop bitterness and a nice malty aroma. Similar to but easier drinking than the Yuengling Traditional lager I’m quite used to.
A good average beer.

Bought a case of this recently and I don't remember this beer being so light in color. it's a golden color with tinges of amber. Still very good, but doesn't seem as malty as the above draft version.

appearance: pale yellow, very little head and no lacing, light carbonation rising from the surface of the glass. Looks a bit green in places

smell: nutty, a bit earthy, a bit of grass and lime

taste: very much as it smells. A bit of malty sweetness and yeasty nuttiness is followed by a slightly sour lime flavor and just a touch of saltiness.

mouthfeel: really nice, light and refreshing without being watery, appropriate amount of carbonation.

drinkability: I've knocked a few of these back before I find it nice and refreshing. Kind of a good "lawnmower beer." Althought I wonder if the lime like hop flavor would become overwhelming if a person where to try to have a session with this

Note: I really like this beer, it's just a good solid session lager or a damn good lawnmower beer. It's not overly complex and it's not subtle it's just a solid no fuss lager. And sometimes that just hits the spot.

Weak pale yellow color, with a fluffy head that dissipates to a very fine lingering ring. Not much in the nose, just some faint grain. Surprisingly solid, malty body (given the unimpressive, macro-ish appearance.) Light on the hops, maybe some lemon. A bit of Band-Aid flavor- not a bad thing.

This brew is a bit of a tweener- a flavorful lager that would suit Joe-BMC just fine. Good to see that with all of the huge beers in Victory's portfolio, they can make a fine "regular" beer as well.

Had this on tap at the Fort Worth Flying Saucer Fall Beerfest.

Golden pour with a large white head. The aroma is grainy with a little bit of corn and some bready malt. The flavor is more grain with some fruity hop characteristics. I get a little bit of grape in the flavor as well as some grassy and spicy hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A nice, easy drinking Helles Lager.

12oz bottle pulled from the fridge poured into an imperial pint glass. enjoy by oct 10 2010 on bottle, so a month over freshness, but i dont think itll matter much.

pours out a pale straw yellow with a fizzy white head that faded to nothing almost instantly. just a slight touch of sediment visible if you look hard.

not huge in the aroma. mostly grain husks and lager funk.

much better taste than the aroma would suggest. a nice balance of grains and lemon citrus hops. lager yeast throughout. simple, but well crafted.

very light in body, good carb for the style, most are overdone.

excellent drinkability. id love to session this beer but its hard to find in sixers, picked this up as a single. worth a try if you can find it, but i wouldnt really go out of my way to drink it again.

This beer came a clear straw yellow with a hint of brown and a thick frothy head. Smelled of dry dirty corn and a musky citrus. Tasted very citrusy for a lager with a sweet corn and oats base. Very slight and simple. Mouth feel was light bodied with a medium to high carbonation. I’d have to say that this would be an ideal transition beer for some one addicted to macros who is curious about Victory.

This is a nice, standard issue but solid sort of lager. Would be excellent in the summer. One thing I love about Victory is the fact that they have so many beers that are just eye candy. This is a great example of what a lager should look like - perfect clarity, straw colored, lightly carbonated, and with a small head that sticks around for a while but eventually disappears. Would be nicer I guess if the head lasted longer, but I'm not gonna nitpick here. Smell is yeasty and grainy, with a light malt backbone and a grassy but sedate hop profile. Crisp taste first of all, which is good. Followed up by some bready malty tastes and a wee bit of hops. Could be a bit more rounded off in terms of having some nicer, more robust, sweet malts, for balance. All in all though, it's a really drinkable beer with a subtle character.

On-tap at Beverly Hills Tavern in Wyomissing.
Served to me cold, with a full fluffy white head. Gold in color with sharp clarity. Smells pretty good. Bread, hay, and honey. Palate is quite sweet with a good honey and cracker malt flavor. Finishes with just a touch of grassy hop flavor. Overall, a strong option when in search of a refreshing mild flavored lager, without adjuncts.

A nice transiton beer. Pours out a yellow/caramel with a nice white head which dissappears quickly. tastes a bit bland, but it beleive this one is meant for refreshment, not of comlexity. The mouthfeel was quite fizzy but still good. Overally if youve got friends over and dont want ot stock up on BUD get this it will please both sides.

Enjoy by Aug. 18 2004. Oops.

Appearance: Pours out a pale yellow with some visible head there. Almost looks like a macro beer. Scary.

Smell: Clean for the most part. A little bit of grain and malts are in there, slighty on the sweet side as well, but clean and dry.

Taste: They don't call it a All Malt Lager for anything. Malts hit the palate silly all the way through the ride. A touch of hops are in the backround as well for a balancing effect. Again, a little bit on the sweet side.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body. Smooth and crisp. It did go down easy.

Drinkability: Instead of bringing a case of Bud, bring a case of this and see if people will like it. I'm sure they will. A good beer to convert someone over.

Pretty good for a helles lager... has the typical flavor profile of the style. Kinda wheaty, a bit of lemon in the flavor, very clear looking, a bit on the sweet side of the spectrum. A little too sweet for me; when I go for a pale lager I tend to like them a bit dryer and crisper. This is on the juicy side. A little bit slick on the palate but has appropriate carbonation.
Solid stuff. Nothing striking about it but it does its job.

lagers usually bore my palate, and this one is really no different, except for the fact that it is so damn good. it is crisp as can be, has more than a watery body, and is not a corn beer. it pours light and thin, but has enough to it that it works with big food. it is really refreshing with that german style malting that leaves it flavorful and distinct. helles style i believe. wouldnt chose it over most other victory beers, but this one is proof that a golden lager made in the USA can still excite from time to time.

This is one of the lightest beers I've drank in a while and the lightest out of this Victory sampler pack. This beer poured a bright straw yellow with a nice finger and a half head and maintained good carbonation until the end. The head dissapeared quickly though and there was very little to no lacing. The smell was typical lager with just a little more hop than usual. Taste is of mild malts and very fresh tasting or maybe I should say just plain clean and organic tasting. Mouthfeel is very smooth. This beer is my least favorite that I have tried from Victory, but then again that's just my preference. Saying that it is still quite easy to drink and very true to the style.

Poured into a Brooklyn lager pint glass.Best before 06/19/07

Very clear golden body with a bone white head that is about 1 finger thick. It then fell to a ring around the glass.Leaves nice lacing on the glass when drank half way through.
Very clean smell with a sorda corn hint to it.
The first taste that comes to my palate is Nachos and or corn.I dont really taste the malt in this stuff, there is a slight hop bitterness. Its very refreshing and above slighty carbonated.
This is a fine lager and taste nothing like im used to in the lager dept.Well done.

Enjoy by 8/17/08, and I don't mind if I do.

Light gold to straw in color, with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Aroma of sweet malt and some mild hop spice. This is as simple as it gets. Not bad, just simple.

Really the taste is an extension of the aroma. Some nice malty goodness up front, a little mix of hop spice and a quick finish that is crisp and clean.

Medium bodied, with some perceived thickness to this Helles Lager. Noticeable viscosity, yet an easy drinker after a tense ride to the DC area from West by-God.

I would recommend this to people on both sides of the BA fence.

poured a clear amber color with notable white head. Smell is malty and a bit sweet, but in a pleasant way. Taste is crisp and sharp, able to note sweet malt present with a different texture than from corn syrup. Finish is crisp and malty. A good lager.
