A: Pours a pale yellow with little to no head or lacing.

S: Not a lot going on, but there is a hint of bread/grain.

T: Pretty simple bready/grainy taste to hit. Very little bit of hops comes through.

D: Certainly drinkable on summer day or possibly as a session if you were into it.

Well this is a perfectly average beer. A beer to recommend to the Bud drinker in your circle of friends as an entre' to better things. Pours a transparent pale gold with a sparse short-lived head that left no lace whatsoever....sigh. Persisitent light carbonation insufficient to form the sparsest of rings of foam on a beer clean glass. The aroma was light and bready, some sweetness hints of corn and faint floral hops. Taste was balanced and refreshing. Short lived sweetness fading to a hoppy finish that is persistent but faint. Mouthfeel is light. This is an easy drinking beer though a tad too "euro lager-ish" for my tastes. Mouthfeel is clean and crisp. A refreshing and drinkable brew, perhaps a good brew to have around for the dog days of August when you are having many more than one.

This is a very light yellow beer. The head is about a half a finger but falls very very quickly. The aroma is mostly like corn, and I'm sorry to say that the flavor is mostly the same. It is light and fresh and except for a touch of diacetyl, it's kinda refreshing. A bit thinnish on the mouthfeel but appropriate enough for the style.
There is an easiness to drinking this that I cannot quite put my finger on, just wish something stood out a little more.

A: thin head on a hazy pale golden body.

S: musty light pale malts and grains.

T: overall bland with little standing out. Mostly malts and grains.

M: moist finish. medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: this one is very bland. I guess drinkable but not for the flavor.

The beer pours a pale gold color with a thick frothy white head that quickly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a light pale malt scent with a citrus hop aroma. The taste is average. It has a light, pale malt flavor with a bit of citrus hops in the aftertaste. It has little flavor or complexity; boring. The mouthfeel sucks. It is a low bodied beer with less than adequate carbonation. This is an average lager at best. It has little flavor and terrible mouthfeel. This is by far the worst offering from Victory, although I like the "all malt" concept.

First review, first Helles tasted as far as I can remember. My comments will by no means compare to that of a beer judge, but here goes:
--bottle to pint glass; light urine / apple cider color (label notes golden which is appropriate)
--nominal head with aroma lightly sweet, but 1st thought is Foster's
--taste: like that of a standard DOMESTIC lager (which says alot pro and con, since not an American beer fan), albeit a bit smoother and definitely not as bad hoppy
--aftertaste: hangs there on the tongue / lingers in your mouth; dry, palpable cottony mouth feel requiring you to take another hit to quench it
--buzz meter: drank pre lunch@ 1130 so mild to mod on empty stomach
--burpage: slightly acidic / hoppy (this would be standard)

Drinkability: ala comic book grading scale = FINE.

Big Fan of Victory, since lived in Philly for some time, but with so many beers to try / re-try, not one I'd be HANKERING (my new category) for / no love lost; but would probably reconsider, as we all would and all know, if we had one on tap in Downingtown.
Ch33rs factor = indifferent.

The beer poured crystal clear pale golden then the yeast came and the beer was turbid. The head was white and tall, but fell quickly to lace the glass.

The aroma is very little. Some slight malt aroma. No hop aroma. Slight fruit aroma, oddly enough, grape.

The flavor is fruity. The beer is slightly sour and has a grape taste as well. Some bitterness in the flavor, but only slight.

The finish is dry. The body is medium-light.

12 ounce bottle.

On tap at the drafting room. Clear and very light golden with a small amount of white head that left a creamy ring. Floral and fruit scents, little bit of white grapes. Very light tasting, clear and watery, lightly reminiscant of fruit. I want to say it is one dimensional, but I do catch alot of fruits and flowers in it... No body to speak of, but drinkable.

My first from Victory Brewing. "Enjoy by date" 08/15/04. Pours a very pale, golden color with very little head that does not stick around. There are trace amounts of lace that also disappear as quickly as they come. The aroma is very faint as well. Taste is slightly hoppy with ample carbonation. Pretty smooth drink, but not much there. Could be a good standby or session beer, but nothing to write home about. Decent enough and not bad.

Bright and clear, with a light, foamy white cap that lasts just long enough to let loose a cloud of sweet-smelling corn. The thin body and fairly fizzy texture makes this very easy to down, and the low ABV makes it easy to follow one with another-- that is, if you're in the mood for an uninteresting lager that has the sour smack of an adjunct beer (as far as I know there are no adjuncts used here, but the taste is still there). This is a serviceable beer squarely aimed at the middle of the road, fine for slamming at the barbecue or getting mindlessly hammered on your front porch after work. Otherwise... eh. Pass it by. Better yet, go buy a six of Weihenstephan helles lager instead.

I will try not to hold against this beer the fact that I was drinking it while watching the Eagles implode in the NFC championship game.

A-Clear golden with a fluffy white head. No lacing to speak of.

S-A little malt, that's about it.

T-A little malt, a bit of noble hops in the finish. Not bad.

M-Medium bodied and refreshing.

D-Yeah, not bad but I would not seek this one out.

First of all, i like the bottle pictured much better than the current one. Anyway, beer poured into a pint glass a very clear, very yellow, very average color. Not much head either. Not sure what it smells like; I would honestly say it smells like budweiser. It doesnt appear to be highly carbonated when poured but the mouthfeel is primarily carbonation. I guess you can kind of taste the cooked, boiled hops, but not in a good way. meh. again, 5 left in a mixed case, anyone want?

::EDIT::I tasted it over the weekend and again tonight directly from the bottle and (for whatever reason) it is much more satisfying.

Received in the Victory Sampler case.

Appearance - Pours out a very yellow color, similar to strw, and, I hate to say it, Miller Lite. Some white head that disappears, but leaves some lacing.

Smell - Malty and very light smelling. Not much to write home about here. Some grassy odors.

Taste - Malts come through with a grassy/grainy flavor. Not what I wanted from a Victory brew. Too light and listless. A small hop feel in there.

Mouthfeel - Reminds me of a macro. Easy and not very assuming..

Drinkability - Very drinkable over the long haul, and maybe a good gateway beer for some, but if you are looking for a good Victory offering, this is definitely not what you want. So much better out there from these guys.

12oz bottle poured into an altbier glass.

Pours a very clear light yellow - reminiscent of BMC lager - with a big fluffy white head that's nice and creamy. Nose is slightly hoppy and smells like BMC.

Mouthfeel is very full due to nice carbonation and solid barley. The taste is like a high quality PBR or something, very light bitterness with some light sulfur. Finish is pretty crisp.

Overall I'd say this is worth skipping, better than BMC, but skip this and go to Prima Pils.

A) Pours with a 3/4 inch head. Good head retention. Visible carbonation. Golden color. Thin lacing.
S) Just a touch of yeast. Sweet fruit scent...citrus, maybe tangerine.
T) Grainy. A mellow sweetness lingers on top while a bit of hops tries to press through.
M) Light bodied. Thin. Slightly dry.
D) A decent brew, but just plain lager.

Appearance – Pale golden color, not unlike a macro, slightly more lively looking. Minor carbonation action, very thin head.

Smell – Sweet malts, hard to get too much more. Grains?

Taste – Mild malt flavors. A bit sweet but in a nice way, not sticky. Tastes like a full flavor (euro) macro. Crisp.

Mouthfeel – Light body. Pleasant mouthfeel. Nothing lingers, clean finish.

Drinkability/notes – Probably a nice summer or all night session beer. Maybe a good cross over brew as has been noted, but maybe not enough going on to make converts.

I keep falling more in love with Victory brewery every day. The look isn't great with a light yellow and medium carbonation and maybe I'm stuffy today but I don't smell a thing but the taste - oh man. Deep, rich corn and nutty flavor - this bear tastes so good!

Clear yellow in color with a short white 1/4" head that disappeared quicker than your can say Downingtown Pennsylvania. No lacing either. The aroma was very faint, as some malts are detectable. The flavor is not what most are used to with Victory brews, as the mild malt and soft bitterness don't overly excite your tongue. The mouthfeel was clean and crisp. No noticeable aftertaste. Drinkability is there, but flavor component is lacking to make this a more interesting brew. This is a perfect beer for the macro drinkers in the crowd and maybe it will spark interest in trying some of Victory's better offerings.

Served on tap at the Victory brewery.

The look was pretty plain. Pale yellow body with a white head which disappeared quickly.

Scent is sweet grain with hints of spice and fruits. Hops hiding in the background.

The flavor starts with a graininess then moves to a fresh bread flavor mixed with fresh hops. Finishes with a yeastiness.

A decent beer overall, though it is paled in every category to the other beers available. It tasted like water after such monster brews as Storm King and Hop Devil, though I tried not to let that hinder the rating.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a pale yellow color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of light and bready malts with a touch of hops.

T: The taste is bready and light with mild flavors of lager yeast and a little bit malt sweetness. There's a very mild hops presence. The after-taste is slightly bready. Even for a style that is simplistic by nature, this beer doesn't seem to have a lot to it.

M: Crisp and smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

D: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely several other beers in the style that I would choose first.

Best if enjoyed by May 6 2011.

A: Sparkling gold, with small specks of yeast floating around in the brew. The nice finger or so white head was picture perfect.

S: Bready, yeasty, and with a slight hop crackle.

T: Bready... more like unsalted crackers, with little to no sweetness to make it interesting. Disappointing.

M: Crisp, well carbonated, but... whatever.

O: This one was in dire need of a little something special to make it interesting. Meh...

"Enjoy by June 19 '07" printed on label.

Pours light golden yellow with a thin head that quickly descends to a thin patch. Virtually no lacing sticks to glass.

The smell is grassy/lemony with some breadiness. Farily mild.

The taste is grainy/grassy upfront. Sweetish malt and bready yeast soon overtakes the grassy taste. Some oily hops. Light texture with a fair amount of clean crispness. Overall, not unlike so many average to decent Euro-lagers.

It has a clean, refreshing quality to it. Not bad, but nothing particularly special about it.

Replacing the amateurish review I wrote on 06/03/2007:

The other lager included in the Victory sampler pack, this thin and translucent beer takes on a grain color with limited head and no retention.

Aroma bouquet includes malt, butter, grain, alcohol and a hint of skunkiness. It's a bit typical, but never offensive.

Taste is a blend of sweet butter, corn, crackers, milk, biscuit and the slightest bit of hops. Aftertaste is completely free of any metallic qualities.

Mouthfeel is smooth with a slight dryness in the conclusion and limited bitterness.

This is certainly a drinkable beer and a nice try at a Helles lager, but, when paired alongside the superior Prima Pils, it falls flat.

On tap at Moan and Dove. This golden-yellow lager is extremely clear to see through, however, there is practically no head. The aroma is barely a hint of hops. Surprisingly, the taste was very developed even with the lack of apparent smells. It turned out to be a really sweet lager. An average carbonation allows it to be somewhat refreshing but a bit too watery. Overall, this drink was a little too crisp, a little too watery and lacked any powerful aroma. But it was decently sweet.

Unfortunately when i poured this beer there was virtually no head to speak of. It is straw colored and pretty clear. The nose has some grain in it, and maybe a hint of spicy hops. The grainyness in the nose carries through to the taste with a minimal amount of diacetyl butteryness, a bit of an off flavor for a lager like this, but not unpleasant. There is good medium-light mouthfeel for this one. Good enjoyable, but not exceptional beer.
