12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Pours a hazy golden color with lots of bubbles and a finger and a half of white head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing

S: Smells of banana and bubblegum, with some belgian funk as well, and some citrusy zest as well, and some spiciness and alcohol

T: Tastes of banana and other tropical fruits, with some bubblegum and citrus notes as well. Quite a bit of belgian funk, and some very subtle spice notes, cloves among others, finish out this complex beer. 9.5% abv is not noticeable at all.

M: Medium bodied, with a good amount of carbonation

D: Very drinkable, but I wouldnt drink many of these, due to the high abv

Overall, this is a very good tripel, another great brew from Victory.

This American Belgian pours a luminous clear golden with thick white head that dissipates to thin white bubbles and light lacing. Smell of light fruit, apple, lemon, fresh bread, and sweet Belgian candy sugar. Taste is velvety smooth with tastes of crisp apple, lemon zest, Belgian yeast, a hint of clove, and loads of Belgian candy sugar. Warming and boozy up front and on the sides, sweetness on the aftertaste and throughout with a light white pepper coming through---not overpowering though. SOLID Belgian brewed in an American style. While the notes of this brew from the bottle are somewhat favorable I would challenge naysayers to try it on growler at cellar temperatures. I currently have this in the fridge in bottle form, but wanted to try it on growler before giving a review since I have had it before and loved the growler so much more for it's depth of character.

Purchased at one of the local quick marts.

A: Slightly cloudy golden with an extreme amount of head. (too much) Moderate retention.

S: TONS of bread. Yeast and bread. Underlying floral notes and alcohol. Outstanding.

T: Bread, malt and slight fruit. A bit alcoholic as well.

M: A moderate richness that sticks. Fair bit of carbonation and smooth. That said, It's disappointing somehow? Hard to describe.

O: Love the smell. The flavor is also good. The appearance and feel prevent it from being great unfortunately.

Rarely does the taste of Belgium ring so true by American brewers. But it does so with Victory's Golden Monkey. Just shy of abbey-type dryness or effervescence, the otherwise spice-to-fruit balance is true to form, and with more than just a "kiss" of hops.

Delicate floral tones waft about, just ahead of the initial taste, carrying with it the whimsy of honey suckle and sugar cookie. With a bready-sweet taste, the flavors erupt with the tangy acidity of sparkling white wine.

Then as the ale simply blooms across the middle palate, flavors unfold with the fruitiness of lemon, apple and slightly under-ripened orange and then the simple rebuttal of white pepper and clove. Settling into a more earthen pattern, elements of sod and dry hay come about as its surprising bitterness begins to show.

A quick finish stems from the expressive carbonation, allowing much of the taste to develop after the beer dissolves; leaving behind bracing vinous acidity, pleasant herbal bitterness and a finish of talc. Still, waves of vanilla and mint trail closely behind.

With glimmers of finesse and grace, there's a steadfast demeanor of the ale that doesn't back down- giving it the decoration of candied fruit but with with vinous influence of monastic rigidity.
