750ml corked/caged bottled sept. 17th 2009 to tulip glass
not the first time i've had golden monkey, but the first corked and caged bottle of it i've bought
pours a golden shade with a light tinge of red, creamy white head retains nicely
smells of spicy yeastly goodness, malt
taste is of heavy yeast esters, malt is very dry, light hops in the background have mostly faded out but the bitterness shows a little in the finish, alcohol makes itself known in the finish and the aftertaste as well
mouthfeel is a good weight, alcohol makes it slick and a little hot even with almost a year on it - carbonation is good and perfect for style
drinkability is sneaky, the alcohol doesn't show it's self too much and its quite tasty - a great meal beer
paired it with peppercorn cheddar (if you havent tried a saison or triple with peppercorn'd cheese you owe it to yourself, they pair amazingly), nom nom nom

Pours a golden yellow color, fairly large fizzy head that fades at a quick pace but leaves a decent lasting cap afterwards, bubbles constantly rising from the bottom, no lacing on the glass.
Smell has a yeasty lemony aroma, touches of banana with a sweet malt backing.
Taste starts out with a strong Belgian candied flavor, lemon follows along with some coriander, carbonation is medium-high but closer to the high side, kind of explodes in your mouth and fills with foam, at first the alcohol is well hidden but with each sip it becomes more apparent.
Got this in a mixed pack, solid budget Tripel.
