A 12oz bottle with a BB of May 2014. Acquired from a webshop. A Belgian-style beer with spices - that'll be coriander then!
Poured into a Delirium chalice. A bright golden-yellow hue with hazy sediment and prolific carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a couple of minutes before reducing to a surface layer. Aroma of sweet, fruity yeast esters with notes of banana, coriander and cloves. A distinct whiff of alcohol in the background.
Tastes of fruity yeast esters with a dry finish. Notes of bananas, coriander, cloves and stewed hops. Slightly sweet. A subtle spicy quality and mild bitterness, followed by a hot alcoholic note upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is full-bodied, dry and tingly. Rather astringent - dries the palate. Aftertaste of fruity yeast esters.
Pretty good; a solid take on a Belgian tripel. The yeast and spice notes are spot on. The only downside is the unbalanced flavour - the alcohol is excessive and isn't integrated to the degree that it should be. However, it's still an impressive effort. Worth trying.
