Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a snifter.

Pours golden and a little cloudy, with one finger of head and nice lacing. Smells of light fruit with some honey and yeast notes. Light sweet fruit taste up front with a bitter middle and a spicy, almost peppery, finish. Light to medium body with sharp carbonation.

A very light and easy drinking tripel, which is dangerous at 9.5%.

This beer poured a clear medium gold and produced await bubbly head about one and a half fingers high. It dissipates rather fast and leaves little Toni lacing.
The smell is of fruit, honey and yeast.
The taste is quite nice and the tart fruit and honey notes are up front. The middle is very malty with a good dose of yeast. Banana flavors are present. In the finish is a little more hop present.
Nicely balanced medium bodied beer, very drinkable, but there are better contenders in this category. But I liked it very much!

Overall a great beer. Victory is a genuine company the pushes the limits of your taste buds. At first taste, Golden Monkey is light and fizzy. It turns into a alcohol laced delight once you let the beer settle in your mouth.

I paid $9 for a bottle at a local spot, but found it priced nicely at a craft beer store. I keep it stocked in my fridge. It has a very strong alcohol taste, but remains light throughout.

All Victory brews are a must try. Golden Monkey is a must keep on hand.

Who says you can't buy a golden monkey?

Appearance - I wasn't impressed by the appearance at all. Very plain and unassuming light brown that looks very filtered.

Smell - I really couldn't pick up a distinct smell from this one. Mildly hoppy and quiet.

Taste - Now, I can dig this taste. A semi sweet with hints of orange and lemon twists and a bit of hops for good balance

Mouthfeel - A good carbonation that matches the flavor and sense of the beer. It will leave a buzz in your mouth for at least a minute, but a mild one.

Overall - I do like this beer, but it is lacking the two essentials for a great beer, appearance and smell. If they could even get the smell to match the taste it would be a winner

Appearance: Slightly cloudy golden- yellow color with a fair-sized white head that slowly faded.

Smell: Bready notes dominate with some yeast notes.

Taste: The bready notes and faint fruity notes that were present in the nose come through in the taste. I also pick up a hop presence in the finish.

Mouth-feel: On the light side of medium-bodied with a generous level of carbonation.

Overall: The taste is not as complex and is somewhat muted compared to the upper echelon Tripels. But on the other hand I've always found this one a refreshing beer in the summer that's priced very well.
