This has been a go to IPA of mine for years, finally getting around to reviewing it!
A - Pours a slightly hazy ruby amber with a one finger light tan head. Lacing is not very sticky but there is good retention on the head.
S - Hops with some kind of funky bitter aroma that is hard to identify as noted in other reviews. Noticeable caramel as well.
T - Sweet caramel up front followed by a good amount of bitter, earthy hops. Not very much fruit/citrus going on in this IPA, it is more of a bitter and floral IPA. Very well balanced nonetheless with a crisp, dry finish. Not as hoppy as I usually like in my IPAs, it is a bit darker and sweeter but I do really like it.
M - Just a tad undercarbonated but very smooth and crisp. Not too oily or sticky on the lips.
D - The alcohol is well hidden and it tastes like more of an English style pale ale than an American IPA. I could drink several.
Overall, probably not what you would expect if you have tried Victory's Hop Wallop. Still very enjoyable and worth getting in a sixer. Still, I found the hop profile to be rather underwhelming given that the beer is named HOP Devil. A bit misleading for what you actually get.
