Served from a bottle into a snifter at about 45°F
Appearance: Darker than most IPAs. Amber red with a one finger off white head. You can tell that they probably used a good amount of malts in this one.
Smell: Citrus grapefruit, caramel malts, spices. Intriguing
Taste: Similar to the smell. Nice balance between citrus hops, caramel malts, and spices. Complex
Mouthfeel: Creamy, smooth, full mouthfeel for an IPA and not overwhelmingly bitter like a lot of IPAs are guilty of.
Overall: Hop Devil stands out in the IPA world. It's unique in its own way with a healthy amount of malts and spices. An excellent example of an East Coast IPA. Not among my absolute favorites in the style, but a great go to as I reside in PA. Cheers!
