On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings. Perfect pairing for wings and baseball.
A - A shade or two darker than orange. Has a fat white head. Nothing stunning, but clearly well-done.
A - Honey-like malt, a little toast. Lots of floral hops. Pine and Citrus follow. This beer could be an air-freshener, still it's not the blast I recall. Could be the moment. Could be the beer. I know I've been more blown away; not just by other beers, but also other samplings of HopDevil.
T - sweet and chewy, with some very strong citrus notes present. This never becomes as spicy as a recall. There've been times when I drank this beer and a 16oz was way too harsh and gritty to finish. This beer came out smoother, though the bitterness mounted as the glass finished.
This beer definitely throws a more interesting malt backbone than average. It's not as dry, but it's also not as sweet as many other hoppy beers. Picking a camp for it is hard to do. That's why I think the Vienna malt is such a good choice for basemalt... and hops up well to the blast of Centennial and Cascade.
M - thick, but occasionally creamy. It's not one to pound. take your time.
O -I often feel the venue matters a lot. Certain places get there hands on quality product, but don't handle it well. Had this one at Buffalo Wild Wings. I recall their Centennial IPA also waned over the course of months they offered it. Maybe it's me, maybe I am right. I dunno.
Regardless, this is an IPA that deserves to be counted among the national greats. Some may prefer others, but this has a deserved placed in the the pantheon. A little more rugged and a little thicker than average, this is a treat and a challenge in one package.

Poured bottle into glass. 6.7% abv.
Appearance- A brilliant and clear dark red amber with a massive foamy head on it.
Smell- Citrus; orange and grapefruit. Not much else....did I mention citrus? lol
Taste- A dual blast of malt and hops. The initial malt blast is somewhat of a toasty bread character. The hops remain through the whole flavor profile until a spicy hot finish. Notes of grapefruit along with hints of sweet caramel too. Wickedly complex.
Mouthfeel- Heavy body of which is thick and creamy.
Overall- A solid example of a great IPA. This was the first craft beer I tried years ago so maybe it has a sentimental impression on me, but nevertheless, it is damn good if you dont mind a complex bitter blast. The hops linger as much as any other IPA. A must try if you're a hophead.
