Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz brown bottle with a best by date of 04/13/2011.
A - The beer is a mostly clear, orange-amber color, with an off-white, two-finger head. The head dies down pretty quickly but a small amount of rising bubbles ensures that a nice cap of foam remains. As the head lowers it sticks to absolutely every interior surface of the glass. This doesn't just look like a good IPA, it looks like a great beer.
S - There is a hint of toast with a sweet citrusy hop aroma that really takes the show. The citrus aromas are lemon, grapefruit, and dried herbs with a bit of pine hidden in the background. I could get more descriptive but I really want to move on to drinking this beer so I'll just say that this aroma is very, very good.
T/M - The beer has an incredibly smooth medium body. This beer is almost creamy, with the perfect amount of carbonation. The immediate flavor is citrusy with ruby red grapefruit and fresh lemon. Pine is also there but the fruit is most evident. The mid-point flavor gives way to floral, herbal, and earthy hops that ride in on a magic carpet of biscuity malt. The finish is earthy, a little spicy and dry. It seems like with every other sip I'm finding some new element to the hop flavors. This is definitely a beer that will keep you coming back.
D - Drink this beer. I always wondered if this beer was really as good as all the hype claimed. I have to say that although the hype is really high, there is a reason for it, and this is a very well executed IPA.
