From a 12oz bottle marked "Enjoy By Sept 19, 2010" enjoyed a few days late on 10/2/10. Into my Sam Adams glass (Thanks, guys!), this one is a slightly hazed orange color with plenty of precipitating carbonation. Thin pale foam cap fades fairly quickly leaving minor lacing. Nose is pretty nondescript even after warming for a bit. There's definitely something hoppy going on there but it's more bready than anything. It's smelling more like an APA than anything at this point. Without checking, I'm guessing this is an English IPA, but then when I taste it... yep, definite biting citrus and piney hops. Now I'm scratching my head. This beast is definitely an IPA but it's not fitting neatly with my experiences with IPA's. A bit more sniffing and tasting and I unravel this beer a bit more. More sweet malt on the palate but there's a definite underpinning of bitter hops. Just a touch of boozy alcohol is there as well. Finishes dry and bitter, one part grapefruit and one part burnt toast. Throughout the mouth remains quite crisp and fresh, very complementary. The little bubbles that are visible in the glass translate nicely to the palate, keeping things crisp and lively. Drinkability is quite good; if not for the 6.7% ABV, I'd be tempted to call this one "sessionable," though only for those who like their brew hops-forward.
Overall: A competent IPA, nicely crisp and enjoyable, rather in the middle of the road of the style. Definitely hoppy but plenty of malt balance there, too. Definitely worth a try.

I love Victory DirtWolf so I had high hopes for this brew. Appearance, smell and mouthfeel was all good, but I was disappointed in the taste.
However, I then remembered that DirtWolf was a DIPA, and comparing wasn't fair, nor the intent of these reviews.
As a IPA, this was a good beer. No citrusy taste, but good hops and flavor.
