Pours a clear amber with hints of orange and gold. A thick off-white head quickly dissipates to leave some nice lacing.

Smell is of piney hops and some sweet malt, with some alcohol burn in there.

Taste is a big, piney, earthy hops, which fills the mouth, then some malt on the finish with a bitter aftertaste.

Texture is of a big hops bite, sticky and viscous, has the feel of a DIPA/IIPA, very nice.

Overall, great beer, flirts with big and bold, has a little more booze in the nose than expected from only(ha) 6.7, but that's my only complaint...

A: Poured a clear orange/amber color. There is a bout a pinky's worth of head that stays. Decent amount of lacing.

S: A nice hop smell. I can smell some citrus.

T: A nice balanced hop flavor with earthy undertones. It has a grapefruit taste. Overall a nice pleasant taste.

M: Smooth feel. There's no bite to the beer.

O: The overall taste is very pleasant. There's a nice mix of citrus and bitterness. I would drink this again and I would serve it to someone who is starting to get use to hoppy beer.

Ba Review #105
Served On: 01/08/2012
Glassware: Duvel Glass
Labeled ABV: 6.7%

Got this beer with some home brews that a buddy sent me in a trade.

Look: Poured a dark murky orange color. 1-finger of spongy off white head. Carbonation level was strong.

Smell: A pungent bouquet of floral hops and sweet malts. Also some pine and vanilla - A Very East Coast aroma. Could remind you of Stoudt's Double IPA.

Taste: The beer had a juicy mouth feel. First were bitter floral notes that quickly became sweet like a sugared peach or pear. The finish was surprisingly clean with a nice bitterness that offered a pleasant fruity aftertaste.

This is a great IPA that is well balanced and very drinkable. The juicy fruit notes were what made this an excellent beer to me. This beer was like a smaller version of Stoudt's Double IPA.
