Bottle purchased at Nathaniel Square Corner Store.

Pours like a classic hefe, lots of visible carbonation running up to the top of the glass. Huge 2.5 inch head crowds the top of the glass, leaving a little bit of lacing.

Smells quite yeasty, with some banana and wheat very evident.

The taste is similar. As it goes along, the taste becomes sligbtly metallic, but there's some nice wheat bitterness, some fruity yeast esters, most notably banana, with some clove as well. The label states they added more hops than the traditional hefe recipe calls for, I don't honestly notice it, tastes pretty traditionally hopped to me.

Light bodied, starts dry then ends with a very creamy mouthfeel. High carbonation.

Another great beer from Victory, they can do no wrong with anything, especially German styles.

Pours nice and hazy. Golden yellow with a good head and leaves a bit of lace. A bit of wheat grain on the nose with a good soft sweetness like a sugar cookie. Lemon citrus and a hint of banana. Clove and spice and a bit of funk from yeast. Lovely palate with a light creamy soft body. Mellow but has so much fruit. Lemon citrus, the banana and even something a bit tropical. Tart. Clove and spice laying out in the background. That malt is the star of this show with it's perfectly dry creaminess. A slightly bitter finish on this one and I don't see how you can ever have enough of it.

Tremendous.

Poured into my gold rimmed Weinhenstephan wheat glass.
Looks like your standard wheat beer with the exception that it didn't form a tall dense head which is quite common in wheat beers.
The color was yellow gold and quite hazy. At the end of the pour and with a good swirl plenty of yeasty sediment.
It's quite carbonated but still, the head fades to a collar.

Aroma moves away from traditional scents of clove and banana. I get mor yeastiness and sweet bread maltiness.
Drinks well. And very refreshing. It's hoppy and sweet and tart, really good. Plenty of sweet malts. The use of Belgian yeast gives a different twist on the taste, and I like it.
It drinks smooth with a semi bitter finish but as it warms that fell turns flat.
This hefe can stand with the best of them and perfect for a Cape May summer.

Very nice to see this and especially on one of those hot, muggy Alabama summer days. This one pours a slightly foggy and hazy gold with lots of tiny bubbles that keep the head steady at around 1/4". It has some sharp lemon scents to it, a bit of yeasty funk, some vanilla sweetness, too. The taste reminds me of lemon Archway cookies, buttery, too. The carbonation's a bit heavy right up front, but then it settles down. Very satisfying and refreshing. An extremely good American hefeweizen, and at a good price.

When "Storm King" hit the market, it took the beer scene... well- by storm. So now the Victory brewers do similarly with traditional German wheat beer. The Mad King version exercises the same sense of quality but does so with a softer palate, which leaves much to be explored.

Supple sweetness of sugar cookie and bread dough reach the nose and early palate with its yeasty undertow. Beautifully malty with sweet grain, cereal and cookie confectioner's delight. With a gentle weave of fruit, the early palate delivers elements of lemon, green apple, under-ripened orange and an almost banana/ papaya melon sense.

The middle fades into a soothing creamy-dry but citrusy tangy character. Those near banana flavors rise to greet spices of clove, white pepper, dried orange peels, alligator pepper and vanilla. That round smoothness give the fruity and spicy center a lot to celebrate.

Deliciously, the bready beer is a stark reflection of its dense gold color and its frothy persistent froth. Its final impressions are of vanilla, mint and tea. Mild earthiness fuses with vinous acidity for a perfectly balanced taste to the bready-sweet texture and taste that grounds the beer. Its a beautiful and all-occasion beer!
