Weizen beers are not a style I go to very often but on hot days here in NC I do from time to time.Pours into a weizen glass a pale yellow color with not much haze,a thinner (for the style) white head atop, doesn't really have the look of a Bavarian wheat beer wich in Victory's defense it sorta isn't.Aromas of yeasty phenols and toasted cereal grain, there is some serious clove going on here. The flavors are dominated by the toasted grain with the phenols giving off some spice with hint of smoke, the feel is light and almost flat feeling wich doesn't fit the style.Kinda let down here I bought this thinking this was gonna be a hefe weizen with a bit of a punch but honestly.... not really.

Poured from a capped 750 mL bottle into a glass tumbler. Moderate hand. No clear date, but barcode reads 30279-65922.

A: Hazy yellow body with a light orange tint. 1 finger of coarse, sudsy white head that quickly dissipates. Light lacing.

S: Sweet Belgian yeast. Wheat notes with touches of lemon, other citrus, coriander and vanilla. Candi sugar. Light grass and floral accents, especially as the head recedes. Banana.

T: Light spice from the yeast opens. Quickly yields to wheat-fueled sweetness and tartness. A noble-type hop bitterness slowly builds to close semi-dry. Light alcohol. Grassy hops linger in the aftertaste.

M: Moderate carbonation with a moderate body. Slightly oily with a somewhat misplaced heavy feeling on the palate.

O: Interesting amalgamation of styles that drinks damn nicely. Good wheat notes, good yeast strain and relatively assertive hopping for a hefe. I found it tasting better closer to the bottom of the bottle.

Appearance was a hazy straw, thick head of white foam, lots of carbonation visible in the beer itself.

Smell: lots of wheat, some belgian yeast. Very subtle floral notes.

Taste: wheat and belgian yeast upfront, some pine and floral flavor, and slightly metallic at the end.

Mouthfeel: smooth ay first, but then lots of carbonation and a chalky after feel become noticeable I a not overly pleasant way.

Overall. A solid effort by victory I the style, but im staying to think they should sick to what they do best- hoppy ales and pilsners.

Bottle purchased at Nathaniel Square Corner Store.

Pours like a classic hefe, lots of visible carbonation running up to the top of the glass. Huge 2.5 inch head crowds the top of the glass, leaving a little bit of lacing.

Smells quite yeasty, with some banana and wheat very evident.

The taste is similar. As it goes along, the taste becomes sligbtly metallic, but there's some nice wheat bitterness, some fruity yeast esters, most notably banana, with some clove as well. The label states they added more hops than the traditional hefe recipe calls for, I don't honestly notice it, tastes pretty traditionally hopped to me.

Light bodied, starts dry then ends with a very creamy mouthfeel. High carbonation.

Another great beer from Victory, they can do no wrong with anything, especially German styles.

Pours nice and hazy. Golden yellow with a good head and leaves a bit of lace. A bit of wheat grain on the nose with a good soft sweetness like a sugar cookie. Lemon citrus and a hint of banana. Clove and spice and a bit of funk from yeast. Lovely palate with a light creamy soft body. Mellow but has so much fruit. Lemon citrus, the banana and even something a bit tropical. Tart. Clove and spice laying out in the background. That malt is the star of this show with it's perfectly dry creaminess. A slightly bitter finish on this one and I don't see how you can ever have enough of it.

Poured into my gold rimmed Weinhenstephan wheat glass.
Looks like your standard wheat beer with the exception that it didn't form a tall dense head which is quite common in wheat beers.
The color was yellow gold and quite hazy. At the end of the pour and with a good swirl plenty of yeasty sediment.
It's quite carbonated but still, the head fades to a collar.

Aroma moves away from traditional scents of clove and banana. I get mor yeastiness and sweet bread maltiness.
Drinks well. And very refreshing. It's hoppy and sweet and tart, really good. Plenty of sweet malts. The use of Belgian yeast gives a different twist on the taste, and I like it.
It drinks smooth with a semi bitter finish but as it warms that fell turns flat.
This hefe can stand with the best of them and perfect for a Cape May summer.
